Dr. Jack Phillip Spaniol, MD

I am a former patient who loved my years under the care of Dr Spaniol. I found him through the emergency clinic. I was very ill with strep throat, migraine headache and out of control diabetes. Dr Spaniol was new in town and kind of specialized in diabetes. I was not happy with my current doctor because she wasn’t aggressive enough in my treatment. I asked him if he would accept me as his patient that night and he agreed. 12 years later we had my diabetes under control! I’m forever grateful! He worked with me and for me. He always took however much time I needed and I didn’t feel rushed!

Got to the office as a new patient (had to wait 2 months to get in) and waiting over 45 minutes in waiting room before asking about my appointment only to be told he was still with his appointment that was scheduled 2 hours earlier and had 3 patients ahead of me!!!!! I would have to either wait forever or re-schedule and wait another 2 months for another appointment. Completely unacceptable/ unprofessional. Wasted my time - Wish I could bill him at his rate for that.

This doctor treated my mother and acted like she wasn't even in the room. He was rude, uncaring, not compassionate at all, made her feel unimportant. She was on multiple medications, acted like a zombie and would just slide out of chairs. We moved to a different town and she established another doctor who actually talked directly to her, not us, explained things to her and us, discontinued and/or changed her medications and there was an amazing improvement.

This "doctor" is a joke! He pushes pills, doesn't listen to his patients and only does something about your symptoms if it is on his terms. When he asks you questions, he cuts you off and puts words in your mouth. Find another doctor, unless you want to wait hours to see someone that doesn't care about YOU!

It amazes me how this guy is still in practice. I could go on and on. You would think he was a used car salesman the way he pushes pills. I had him for a doctor for about 6 years and actually trusted the guy for some odd reason. One of the worst mistakes I've ever made. He acts as if you aren't even in the room. There's little things that have happened such as him cursing constantly while in the room, or not knowing how to use his computer and asking for the patient's assistance on it while slamming the mouse down over and over again. But then there's been a lot bigger situations like when I had a full blown anxiety attack in his office while he was standing in front of me and he acted as if he could care less and sent me on my way. Told me to go put a cold cloth on my forehead to cure the anxiety attack. Or when I was on a certain medicine and experiencing terrible side effects so he took me off of the medicine. Then just a few weeks later prescribed it again and didn't… remember taking me off of it to begin with and insisting that I should take it. He will have his mind made up on what type of pills you will be taking before he even walks into the room to see you. It doesn't even matter to him if you are in there or not. THIS GUY IS A JOKE

I only gave 1 star because zero was not an option. Terrible bedside manner, cocky and rude. Asks alot of good questions, did not wait for an answer. Discussed things family asked not to discuss.

He was our family Dr for years, not only me and my husband but my mother,father, grandmother, aunt,when he was in charleston Il. Miss him greatly. He was always there when we needed him. Great Doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr Spaniols for over 5 years. I can deal with long wait times, but one time I ended up waiting for over an hour to have cholesterol results read to me. I asked the nurse when they start calling the patient and informing them of the wait ahead and she told me they dont do that. Recently, I needed a written Rx for a medication. It took them 4 days to call me and tell me it was ready for pick up. By that time I was in Pennsylvania on vacation. When I got back I asked for another and was told no because Dr Spaniol's policy is to only write 1 Rx per month...regardless if it was filled or not. This office staff is ridiculous and act as if you are bugging them, stay away from this guy as there are plenty of good Dr's in the area.

I was visited by Mr.Spaniol in the hospital after a serious illness. He was the doctor on call for the weekend. He had the worst bedside manners I had seen in my life. He also refused to prescribe me any pain medicine...as I had been on Morphine the previous 3 days.
