He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 and completed his neurosurgical residency in 2016 at North Shore – LIJ University Hospital, Northwell Health System on Long Island, NY. During residency he developed an interest in working with large database systems and had written several quality improvement manuscripts and publications. At the same time he became an avid long distance runner and a fitness enthusiast, which he continues to incorporate in his daily life.After completing his residency, Dr. Januszewski spent one year in a prestigious spine fellowship at the University of South Florida with one of the world-renowned pioneers of Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine (MIS) surgery for spinal deformity, Dr. Juan Uribe. During his fellowship he developed a strong interest in spinal biomechanics, adult spinal deformity, scoliosis, and degenerative disc disease that leads to spinal instability. He believes even the simplest of cases must be treated thoughtfully and correctly, with proper spinal biomechanics in mind, to avoid future long-term complications of flat back or failed back syndrome. His energetic personality, strong work ethic, and dedication to the field allowed him to write over 21 scientific manuscripts on spinal deformity and 6 book chapters during his fellowship alone. He also performed over 14 podium presentations at national conferences, peer-reviewed over a dozen scientific manuscripts, facilitated the development of a new spine journal (Journal of Spinal Studies and Surgery) where he sits on the editorial board,Dr. Januszewski is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and Society of Lateral Access Surgeons (SOLAS). He is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS).
