Dr Smith.If he is a Dr. Ruined my life from his horrible work doing a cervical discectomy with fusion in 2011. After 7 months in a neck brace and loosing almost 100 pounds cause I couldn't swallow still.when he knew I wouldn't get better and he made a mistake..him and his mother, ( secretary) systematically set out to destroy me medically and my name as well he made sure no Dr would ever even look at the crap he did to my neck and the horrific suffering I have gone through..Don't take the chance of getting hurt even worst by this guy...there are plenty of half way decent surgeons in Melbourne.

Dr smith is fine but some of the staff and surgical co-ordination is very poor, whether it's from lack of communication or just shear incompetence this effects his rating. Poor communication causes patients to suffer. I will now look for a new doctor because his staff can't perform with competence. Tried to get my surgery for over 4mos and the surgery is always canceled because something they didn't do or have ready. How screwed up is that?

This doctor refused to do surgery because he feared I would not wake up from the anesthesia, Even when I had my doctors from Pafb tell him and his staff that I was no longer on a sedative muscle relaxer. On that note had a nurse from medtronic with me. His staff was very unprofessional. I should not had to jump through hoops and bounds to get a date. The doctor could have gave me a better explaination than I'm afraid she won't wake up from anesthesia. My doctors were highly upset with this surgeon. What doctor sets a date for a surgery that your paying for then decides to postpone it ??? I took my service somewhere else... Maybe this was a sign it was not ment for me to get my surgery done by this doctor.

Dr. Smith performed Balloon Kyphoplasty on my 84 year old mother for a acute-onset fractured vertebra in her lower spine. Dr. Smith was very personable at the hospital, explained the procedure in easy to understand terminology, was very attentive, and post-procedure was available for questions. At the two-week follow-up office visit he took time to explain again what he did, illustrated with pictures from the before-surgery MRI and the x-rays from the operating room. His office was easily accessable via wheelchair, the office was clean, smelled fresh and had excellent guest amenities while being tastefully decorated. Staff was exceptionally friendly and, quite frankly, it was one of the best office visits I've participated at in years. The surgery was a complete success. Additionally this doctor participates in not-for-profit organizations and is invested in the local community. Excellent overall experience and I would highly recommend this doctor for anyone needing neurosurgery or… spinal intervention.

Being new to Florida and not knowing the surgeon , I googled as much info as possible before choosing Dr Smith. I originally picked out The Payne Institute for my appointment but when I relayed this information to my Neurologist and also my primary care doctor , they both told me , "DO NOT go there " ! I was nervous at first about going to a D. O. but my PCP explained that DO's have extensive training in their field and that helped my make my decision. I did not want to have surgery PERIOD but given the instability and bone spurs along with compression of the nerves , pain numbness and tingling on my right side , I had no other option. I have to admit his bedside manner is a little rough but I find him very competent in his field. Everything was explained to me prior. The techniques he used were cutting edge and the surgery went very well. It has been almost a month now and if it wasn't for this collar I have to wear for 3 months ... I would not even remember I even had surgery. I have… a bone stimulator that I wear and don't even feel it. My diet is high in protein which will help with the fusion and I am starting PT today. I do have some residual pain and he had no problem helping control my pain with muscle relaxers and a mild narcotic. This should help tremendously with my PT. The secretary is very nice although his MA kind of creeps me out. All in all .... I would highly recommend Dr Smith if you want a less evasive , healthy way to solve spinal issues.
