Wish I had a better experience. I’ve been dealing with vulvar pain since I was 17 and am almost 22. Took 25+ doctors and a trip to New York to finally receive an accurate diagnosis of pelvic floor dysfunction. I saw Dr. Castagno a few years back hoping to find an answer. Before the visit I overheard her flipping through my charts and saying things such as “this is a waste of my time.” When she came into the exam room, I felt very rushed and was quick to dismiss my pain as a yeast infection that I had at the time of seeing her. She also invalidated my pain by telling me “you don’t have vulvodynia; my patients with vulvodynia can’t even be touched.” She had a few other comments that made me feel belittled. Her nurse, however, was very helpful and friendly and cared more at finding a cure. Dr. Castagno refused to give me injections that her nurse witnessed being performed on another patient, but she told her that I “didn’t need them.” I was able to get Botox injections in New York and… already feel 100x better! Personally, I would not recommend. I’ve had overall very poor experiences at Shand’s Health and would recommend outside of their practice.

Dr. Castagno is a very caring doctor. I went to three other doctors for a second opinion. She was the only doctor who reviewed my tests with a radiologist slide by slide. She is very knowledgeable and willing to spend time with you. Highly recommend her.

My gynecologist, who no longer performed surgery, highly recommended Dr. Castagno when I developed a persistent ovarian cyst and because I had a family history of ovarian cancer and a personal history of cervical cancer. Dr. Castagno then performed a complete hysterectomy. I found her to be an attentive listener and a remarkable surgeon. I had a recovery with no complications and the scar from the surgery was nearly invisible. I feel grateful to her both for the excellent care she provided and for her respectful and compassionate manner towards me as a patient. She is an exceptional physician and surgeon.

Needed emergency surgery back in 2007. She saved my life when 3 other doctors said they couldn't help me for another 3 months at least. Great doctor! Understood the urgency of my situation and went out of her way to take care of me.

I would wait hours to see Dr. Castango. She saved my life after coming to her at 23 years old with Ovarian Cancer scared out of my mind, with a previous dr whom didnt want to do anything for my cancer since I was so yound. Dr. Castango, helped take care of my cancer. she is amazing. I would go to where ever she is if I ever needed her again. I love her!
