Dr. Jaime Rehmann Obst, DO

If you’re vehemently anti abortion then maybe she’s the doc for you.

I visited Dr. Obst when she practiced in Buffalo. I was a new patient and coincidentally had an annual appt scheduled on the due date of the baby I lost during my second of three miscarriages. Dr. Obst arrived at the office to a waiting room full of patients an hour and a half after my appt was scheduled to begin. Her nurse got me started with vitals and I cried to her about my history when she inquired. The nurse was incredibly compassionate and I was so grateful. Unfortunately, Dr. Obst was not. When she finally came in the room, she first snatched my phone from my hand and told me to put it away while I was finishing a work email during my extended wait time for her. I then shared my history of losses with her and that luckily I was going to be working with an angel of a woman to be our surrogate and carry our baby due to my unexplained recurrent miscarriages. At the time, Dr. Obst was heavily pregnant herself. She looked at me with horror and said “are you kidding me? Being… pregnant is hard enough when it’s your own child, who would ever want to do that?” My jaw dropped. I could not fathom the utter callousness she displayed, nor was it conceivable she seemingly had zero experience working with surrogates as of 2021. Dr. Obst may be knowledgable and skilled, though I cannot confirm that because she abruptly left her practice without notification to her patients and moved to Texas. However, no amount of knowledge or skill compensates for such horrible behavior toward a patient, particularly one who was outwardly upset under the circumstances of that day. I would never recommend anyone put themselves in a position to interact with Dr. Obst. No doctor is worth that.
