Dr. James Joseph Benjamin

I echo the other negative opinions of this doctor's office .. especially those mentioned the absolute rudeness of his wife, Joan, who works as the receptionist. If I were to mention how I was treated by her and what she said to me and my family, no one reading this would believe it. Therefore, I will not waste my time in reliving this experience. Just do yourself (and your family) a favor and do NOT, under any circumstance, visit this doctor's office for any reason.

Guess he has better things to do then take care of his patients, or even be polite to them.

I needed an appointment ASAP when I called Dr. Benjamin's office at 9:15am. Although I had never seen him before I was able to obtain an appointment for 10:45am the same day. My wait time to see Dr. Benjamin was approximately 15 minutes and it was 15 minutes that was well spent. Dr. Benjamin was very polite and warm, at once putting me at ease. He was quite thorough in his questions and examination. All in all he spent perhaps 45 minutes with me and never once did he make me feel he needed to "hurry through" my appointment so he could get to his next patient. I appologize to anyone who may have had an appointment after me but I'm quite certain Dr. Benjamin showed you the same care and concern as he did me. He is now my primary care physician. If you've ever felt like just another nameless face in a long line of nameless faces I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin to anyone who desires a down-to-earth doctor with a caring nature.

The problem with Dr Benjamin is his wife Joan Benjamin. She is a nasty rude old lady! This woman has no manners and I sort of feel bad for the Dr. who has no say about what goes on in his own office. I was told that I owed a balance on my account and even after taking the canceled checks to Mrs. Benjamin she still wouldn't credit my account. The woman is either dumb or incompatent. Whatever the case, don't waste your time.

I made an appt with Benjamin but when I got to the office his wife asked me if I had insurance yet( lost my ins due to unemployment) I answered no and was told if I didn't pay the entire amount I couldn't see him. I asked if I could pay half and then the rest next week. Again I was told no. I then spoke directly to Dr Benjamin who asked his wife if the payment plan would be okay just this one time, She said absolutely not and stormed out of the office. I have been a patient of Dr Benjamin for 21 years and thought we had a good professional relationship. I begged him to see me since I knew I had a bladder infection and was in pain. He refused and told me I said something about his wife. I now am without a Dr and have chronic medical condition that needs consistent care. I received a letter from him several days later with two prescriptions to cover the month. He included names of three pain specialist that he said could take over my care. The problem is I contacted them and they… don't give monthly meds, only precribe what you need then send the report to your primary care Dr. also they charge three hundred dollars for the appointment. My bladder infection got so bad I went to a minute clinic for care. This Dr who I confided in for 21 years just brushed me off like I was nothing. I never asked for free care, I have always paid my copayment and don't owe him any money. I was denied health care because his wife wouldn't let him see me. She never mentioned their new policy when I made the appointment. So I have no idea what to do or where I can go for health care. Another point I would like make is Dr James Benjamin is a Deacon in the Catholic Church, he calls himself a religious man. I don't think he could possibly know the meaning.
