Dr. James S Carpenter

Dr. James Carpenter was my doctor when I lived in Glendale, AZ. He was very good and had the knowledge along with my well being in mind to also refer me to a heart specialist. Thank you very much for your service.

I have seen Dr. Carpenter for the past several years and just today went in again. When I call for an appt. if the phones are busy I just leave my number and they call you back as if you were in the loop. It usually is about 10-15 minutes and I don't wait on the phone. This Dr. has always believed what I have said about what I am believe is happening and calls for tests that have been accurate. His staff is the best and never never rushes me with questions I may have.

Dr. Carpenter and his staff are excellent. He truly cares about his patients. Because of how busy he is, it is sometimes difficult to get an appointment on short notice, but the PAs are an excellent option for an immediate need.

Overall, Dr. Carpenter is an excellent physician. He does take the time to listen, makes the correct diagnosis, and seems to be up-to-date on required tests. However, if you would like an immediate explanation about something that sends a red flag on your test results, you are out of luck. You have to wait until your next appointment (sometimes as long as 6 months later) to receive the explanation. In addition, when you tell Dr. Carpenter that you did not receive any information from a previous visit about a specific matter, he will get "snippy" and tell you he did indeed give it to you. I found out after my appointment that the staff at the front desk or his nurse was suppose to have PRINTED the information and given it to me.

He is a fine physician. The behavior of the support staff seems to be a function of the neighborhood. I heard them fight with a patient and then gossip about him in language audible to the entire waiting room. All this while eating and drinking in view of those in the waiting room. People behaving this way seems acceptable in west Phoenix/Glendale. I suspect they wouldn't survive in Scottsdale. When I objected to their behavior I was dismissed from the practice. I have found that the level of service I receive anywhere is related to the class of the client base, which in turn is related to neighborhood in which the business is located. As in real estate, location, location, location.

Dr.Carpenter is the best doctor in the office. Sometimes you need to make a someday appointment when your really really sick. The appointment person always gives me a hard time. Okay not today how about tomorrow or when is the next day available appointment. When can I have an appointment, oh in 2 months! Wow thats a long time to wait. In the mean time your body will heal slowly. Then I usually have to make my physical appoint like 4 months in advance. I don't understand why they overbook him and he keeps taking new patients. He doesn't have enough time to see his old patients. There are some other doctors in the practice that are not taking any more patients.

Dr. Carpenter is a wonderful doctor. He is thoughtful and provides advice specific to your needs. I only see him once or twice a year, but feel like he knows me and my family very well. I would highly recommend Dr. Carpenter and the entire staff at Thunderbird Internal Medicine.

I have been to plenty of doctors and Dr. Carpenter is a 5 star doctor. He listens, has great bedside manner. Covers you from head to toe and is really interested in your well being.

Excellent doctor, but I can't seem to get an appointment on the same day or next day or the next day after that day. Your have to book your appointment to far ahead of time to get one. I can't predict when I would get sick or when I really need to see a doctor. Sometimes you have to tell the office staff your dying in order to get an appointment. My husband said to change doctor, but I would't change doctor for anything.

Dr. Carpenter is the best I've had as a general doctor. He listens and asks questions, and carefully reviews with me what he thinks and gives thoughtful advice, recommendations, and follow-up. He is for real, not a TV make-believe.
