Dr. James E Curlee, DO

Dr. Curlee provided a thorough assessment of my sleep disorders which extended beyond "sleep apnea." After reviewing a video tape of an in-house sleep session, he found that I had "restless leg syndrome" and a "rem" sleep disorder. The first is a nuisance. But the later is dangerous to myself and my wife. I have thrown myself out of bed and "struck" my wife while sleeping. Dr. Curlee upgraded my original CPAP machine to a Bi-PAP unit to more closely fit my breathing pattern while sleeping; this for sleep apnia. He also proscribed two medications to treat the "restless leg" syndrome and "rem" sleep disorder.Medi-Care recently became my primary health insurance. He and his staff "effortlessly" handled this switch by accommodating med-care's limitations.

While I really appreciated Dr. Curlee and the work he did with me. His office staff leaves a lot to be desired. The unfortunate thing is Dr. Curlee listened to his office staff without getting any feedback from the customer/patient. There where to many issues of getting misinformation and then making the customer look like the bad guy. The office staff took recommendations from their billing company and didn't call and verify with the insurance and it took me talking to the office manager to get it resolved. When I went in for an MSLT they told me that there would be WIFI available so that I could work around the naps. When I arrived there was no Wifi and the staff and Dr. Curlee developed serious attitude when I told them I could not stay through the test. Had I been informed of the facts I would have waited to make the appointment when I could take a day off. If you are looking for a good doctor and are willing to put up with office staff that will make you the villain for… their short comings and mistakes then go to Georgetown Sleep Center. If you want to be treated like the customer and have a voice in your treatment look elsewhere.
