I was flown to University of Maryland Medical Center in 2004 with a descending Aorta that was evidently blown up like a balloon and about to burst. Dr. Gammie performed emergency surgery on me that I am told took many hours with a very low chance of success. It took me a year to recover and I am still not the same as before but I'm alive, working and living a happy life with my wife here in Maryland. I write this review so many years later because my younger brother never discovered that he had recently developed a similar issue until it was too late. His aorta burst a few days ago and he has now passed away. I would not wish the long and difficult recovery on anyone but wish that my brother had the same opportunity as I have had to live thanks to Dr. Gammie and his surgical team.

Had 2 open heart surgeries and both were a failure. Stitching came out of valve repair and they poked a huge hole in my aortic valve during surgery. Do not use this surgeon. Left me permanently damaged and now cannot get fixed due to much scar tissue. Left in worse shape than before surgery.

I would not use this doctor or his new mitral valve treatments. My father died from his promised surgery. He would have lived a few more years without it. Don't trust your loved one with this doctor.

This doctor is terrible.

Awesome surgeon, compassionate person!! Was in A-Fib for 13 months and could not walk up 6 steps w/o getting out of breath. Had a CryoMaze procedure, valves fixed, etc and was back to normal in 2 months.

Horrible doctor.

Will try to sell you on Mitrovalve Clip, which is not safe. Opt for traditional heart surgery over this ridiculous surgery.

Dr. Gammie fixed me. Had previous surgery that caused me more problems. I am so glad I was pointed in Dr. Gammie's direction. Im still in recovery as its usually fully several months. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. Thank you Dr. Gammie
