Dr. James M Gilchrist, MD

Dr. Gilchrist is by far one of the leaders in his field! He has treated my Myasthenia Gravis for three years and I wouldn’t go to anyone else! I never knew him before but now my wife and I consider him a friend.

Dr.Gilchrist is extremely though. Made correct diagnosis and now I’m getting the right treatment. Very supportive

Saw my mom and was very short and abrupt with me when I asked questions. Downplayed the possibility of a certain diagnosis. Got 2nd opinion from Dr Gelber who was kind, compassionate and diagnosed her within 10 minutes. Beginning treatment today. I

Talked down to my husband and myself and did not even listen to our concerns. The interns asked more questions and showed more concern than him. It’s a shame that he is the leader of these interns. They should be learning from him and instead they are learning how to treat patients poorly. We will never see anyone associated with SIU.

Made me feel like I was a waste of his time.

I was there for a second opinion arranged by my Primary Physician. Felt as though he talked down to me and treated my condition as minimal. It is not minimal to me. His intern at the time was concerned, caring and gracious. She realized the pain I experienced and my frustration at not knowing what was the cause for the onset and why there was only management of symptoms.

He ordered an muscle biopsy & then said nothing was wrong. But my other dr also got the lab work, which showed mitochondrial abnormalities. Other dr wanted to know how to treat them. Instead Gilchrist screamed at me (I think he is mentally ill). I was so distressed I went to the head of the hospital, who told me they would not bill me if I did not sue for malpractice. I agreed, because my other dr. got treatment advice from the lab that did the testing. It helped. Avoid Dr. Gilchrist at all costs!!!
