Dr. James Charles Higgins, DO

My regular doctor was unavailable and I was given an appointment with this doctor. I wish I had read his reviews in advance. Everything that is written I experienced. He would not refill my anxiety meds and said they are not effective and that talk therapy works best. He cut me off several times and brought me to tears. He made me feel like I was a drug addict. He wouldn’t refer me for additional testing or give me my pain medication for my back. He said my back pain was due to getting old and that I needed physical therapy, yoga, glucosamine and chrondroitin. He was very arrogant and uncaring. It’s sad that the Naval Hospital still employs him.

Misanalyzed lab results and refused to discuss with me. I Do not recommend him.

Dr. Higgins is the rudest doctor I have EVER met. He tried to just throw pills at me in hope I would shut up. I didn’t want his pills I wanted answers. He refused to listen to me then proceeded to say he didn’t have time for me or to listen to me. He was and is the worst and shouldn’t even be a doctor.

Dr Higgins was the rudest doctor ever that I can remember seeing in all of my 63 years. Transferred to the Naval Hospital Family Practice and was given the name of James Higgins who left me bewildered and totally upset would not hear anything I had to say and did not do the right thing when it came to filing an authorization for treatment by an established surgeon which totally could have been sent in Stat or ASAP but instead told me the approval process could take as much as two weeks knowing I was an immediate cancellation list for surgery. He caused me undue stress and left me feeling like a nobody and not at all respected.

I have PTSD, depression and anxiety. If he would have looked at my file he would have seen that one of my triggers is doctors offices. My regular doctor was stationed somewhere else so I had to see him. All I was going for was a refill on my anti-anxiety medicine. He asked why I needed it and I explained what I have been medically diagnosed with and if look into my file that you can see all the notes and that I wasn’t really comfortable talking to someone I didn’t know about my past. I explained my previous doctor and I worked on a relationship to get where we are. He told me he didn’t have time for that and I needed to tell him or he wouldn’t refill my perscription. It made me very uncomfortable and when I tried to leave he wouldn’t let me. Which freaked me out more. He said in order to leave I had to see mental health and behavioral health. Dealing with him made me feel disrespected and like I didn’t matter.

Do not see him if you don't want to feel horrible and leave crying. He doesn't listen or care about you or your needs.

I would have to be on my death bed before I would go see him again.

I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT OF DR HIGGINS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND MY WIFE AND I BOTH AGREE THAT THE HOSPITAL IS VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH A DR ON THEIR STAFF. THE ENTIRE STAFF OF DOCTORS AT NAS, JACKSONVILLE FL. IN MY EXPERIENCE ARE THE MOST CARING AND SINCERELY INTERESTED IN YOUR MEDICAL PROBLEMS OF ANY OTHER FACILITY I HAVE VISITED IN THE LAST 30 YEARS. IT IS ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO VISIT DR HIGGINS WITH ALL MY MEDICAL PROBLEMS AS HE GETS TO THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM SWIFTLY AND INTELLIGENTLY. THE MCDONALDS....

My appointment with this doctor was horrible. He lacks bedside manner, as the previous person said. Told me I was making a mountain out of a mole hill with something that was obviously very important to me, and obviously didn't really care. Didn't give me a chance to even speak without cutting me off. I had to fit all my answers into 2 sentences or less. When I asked him about getting a certain test he snidely asked me if I was a medical professional. No...just an informed patient?!?And don't ever even shed a tear, because he has no patience for that. I'm surprised he didn't tell me to suck it up.I left quickly and cried the whole way home.
