Dr. James Gregory Johnson, MD

A very doctor that I have had the pleasure of knowing for 23 years. Appreciate the great attitude, love the fact that he cares for me and my family as well. Dr Johnson takes the time to sit down with you after the exam just to explain his thoughts about the exam and to hear my concerns. Dr Johnson has such a caring attitude and I couldn't have ask for a better OBGYN that delivered three out of four of our children two being twins.

I faithfully went to see Dr. Johnson since moving to SC in 2003. He was always very kind, answered my questions, made me feel comfortable, etc.However, when they moved over from their smaller office to the hospital, I noticed a marked difference. Getting a call back for an appointment became much more difficult. In fact I had to call 3 or 4 times, leaving a message each time, to get someone to call me back. We always knew it may be difficult for me to get pregnant so when I got several positive results from my at-home pregnancy tests and started showing other signs of pregnancy, i called them right away to get it confirmed. It took 3 days to get a call back for an appointment. The nurse (who has always been friendly) was curt and seemed as though I was bothering her. When I finally got in at the end of the week, I was still showing positive results in my pregnancy tests. Dr. Johnson performed an exam and said flipantly that I wasn't pregnant and that i probably am just getting my… period. At that comment, the nurse giggled and then they both laughed like i was silly for even thinking I was pregnant in the first place. I felt very uncomfortable. He told me all of the positive tests must have been wrong. Shortly after getting home from my exam, I start bleeding quite a bit and it was very painful. I didn't want to go back because of the embarrassing experience so I just treated it as my period and took a lot of ibuprofen in the meantime. A couple of months later, I took another at-home test which was positive and called around to other doctors (all of which said the chances of having 5 positive at-home tests spanning over a week and them all be wrong are pretty slim). I had another exam at my new doctor and sure enough I was pregnant. After being examed, they said it was very possible I had had a miscarriage earlier that year.Im not a doctor so i will never know but I can't help but think that my first diagnosis from Dr. Johnson was very wrong and wonder what would have happened if I had gone to a more competent doctor. I am happy to be going to Highland Center for Women now and am due any day with our first baby!
