This man not only is very skilled with complicated pelvic surgery, but he has the most amazing ability to make you feel better mentally as well. I had an unexpected placenta percreta when delivering with a regular OB/GYN via c-section. It was discovered that the placenta had grown through my uterus and onto my bladder. I was in the OR hemorrhaging. While I was on the table in OR, my OB/GYN had to emergently call Dr. Lilja in to do the emergency pelvic surgery and repair my bladder as well as try to save my life. He succeeded and came to check on my while I was in hospital. I was very close to dying. I will never forget his wonderful confidence and optimism when he came to see me. I was very scared and worried and he really was the only person that gave me hope that I would be OK. He made time for me at his office when I needed a follow up. He very much cares for his patients and has incredible skills. I will forever be thankful for this doctor for saving my life.

Dr. Lilja was a kind, smart, wonderful person who saved my life. I had been diagnosed with a cancer that I had tried to cure many times before, but none of the treatments worked. My family and I were starting to worry and give up, my doctors thought I was going to die in a matter of months or so. My friend introduced me to Dr. Lilja as my last try to heal my serious disease and he immediately started talking to me, smooth and calm, and became like my friend. I was comfortable around him and he gave me useful advice and a good amount of attention. After a while of the treatment he gave me, my cancer was completely gone. I would recommend this doctor to anyone. If not for him, I may not be writing.

Dr. Lilja was referred by a doctor that missed my diagnosis for prompt surgery.I was still in shock when i saw him.I told him i wanted this diseased stuff out quick to start saving my life.It was Christmas week and he made room on his schedule days before.He was compassionate and he answered all questions and gave me courage.It was a long surgery but he took time with my family when i was in recovery letting them know details.He visited me several times and checked in with attending doctors,yes there is wait at his office at times but i realize he is doing wonders on someone else and don't mind.

Dr. Lilja is very knowledgeable and dedicated. You can tell he truly cares about his patients and he takes his work very seriously.

Dr. Lilja is an excellent physician - I would not want to put my life in anyone else's hands with this condition. His staff is amazing!

As a medical professional for over thirty years, I had never written the California Medical Licensing Board, to either commend or complain about a physician until I met Dr. Lilja. After meeting him and having him savemy life with a major multi-faceted surgery, I could not give him enough commendations when writing the Board andhave been extolling his virtues ever since!!!!!!!!!!!!! He responded to my immediate medical needs with profound kindness, compassion and competency, not to mention BRILLIANT surgical skills.His expertise was so outstanding that I never needed one pain pill after returning home, and would never have known I'd ever had a massive surgery. At a time when the public has been so disatisfied and disheartened with poor medical care, Dr. Lilja embodies all thequalities you want in someone who has your life in their hands.
