Dr. James Christian Loos, MD

I can't actually speak to the doctor (Dr. James Loos), but I can speak to the truly awful experience it was trying to set up an appointment. I have dealt with prostatitis in the past and UTI's, and was dealing with some of the same issues. Tried to set up an appointment, the doctor's secretary told me she'd call me back in two days. She didn't. I followed up and she called me back the next day, I was told the doctor wouldn't see me unless I faxed over documentation of my issue from prior doctors. It had been several years and I told her I didn't have the records: doctor wouldn't see me. Ridiculous, I have in-network health insurance and am dealing with an issue where I need to see a urologist and have seen one in the past, and the doctor wouldn't meet with me?

Dr. Loos attempted to catheterize my husband during his last days with prostate cancer. My husband GRIMACED, GROANED and WRITHED in pain -- something I and our hospice nurse witnessed in Dr. Loos' treatment room. Lidocaine was used. Morphine had been given at home to prepare for the procedure. My husband suffered for approximately 10 minutes. This needed to be done under general sedation which we had asserted was needed (due to an unsuccessful attempt in our home earlier in the week). Dr. Loos should have sent us to the surgery center to await for general sedation to catheterize my husband.

Dr. Loos was instrumental, no make that pivot-able, in diagnosing and monitoring a treatment plan for my wife's cancer treatment. She had a very rare form of appendix cancer. She was written off by oncologists at both Medford OR hospitals. Dr. Loos (while constantly pointing out he was not an oncologist...) worked with physicians from the University of California San Francisco to initiate a treatment plan that prolonged her life for two years; two years that enabled her to see and develop a very meaningful relationship with our first grandchild. A remarkable physican!

Had a very good experience with this doctor/surgeon. He possesses good communication skills, which is very important to me. He is also respectful and has a positive attitude. Highly recommend.
