Dr. James Davis Luecke, MD

I’ve been seeing Dr. Luecke for the last 8 yrs. He is a doctor who genuinely cares about his patients. Sometimes it takes awhile to be called in to an exam room, but just know that he will spend as much time with you, too. And ALL of his staff are so caring as well. They will assist you in any way they can.

Ms. Pamela Dalzell is a rude and obnoxious bully. When I informed her that I was a retired veteran, she went on a tirade about applying for a disability from the Veteran’s Administration, and refused to listen to anything I had to say from that point on. There are a number of salient facts about the VA that the average taxpayer may not know: -The VA is funded with billions of dollars of taxpayer money. A large amount of this funding comes in the form of so called “pork barrels”, courtesy of your friendly local Congressman. -Receiving a disability means having to go into the VA Health Care System, which has been described as “uneven”. No, thanks. As a military retiree, I have Medicare and Tricare for Life. I don’t need the VA. -The leading cause of death among veterans is suicide. Nobody in the military or the VA seems to either understand or care. The VA aside, Ms. Dalzell introduced herself to me as “Dr. Dalzell”. The surprise came later on when I discovered she is a… Nurse Practitioner and not a physician. Further, she called my family physician and introduced herself as “Dr. Dalzell”. I had thought that you need to have “MD” or “DO” after your name to be called “Doctor”? Since Ms. Dalzell works for Doctor Luecke, if I was his malpractice or liability insurance carrier, I would be nervous. It also came out that Ms. Dalzell is a retired Army Colonel. Since I am a retired Army Sergeant, it quickly became apparent that Colonel Dalzell made a career of bullying enlisted men. Once this became clear to her, the shaking her fist in my face and screaming at me got very intense. Jim Luecke might be a pretty nice guy, but watch out for Pamela Dalzell, especially if you are a veteran.

I have been a patient of Dr. Luecke's for several years. I have seen him at his office in Fort Davis, his office in Alpine, and at the hospital in Alpine. A few months ago, his office in Alpine shut down without any notice. I STILL have not received any notice from them. I only found out about it from friends on Facebook and my life insurance carrier. Luckily, I have not yet needed additional medical care. However, my life insurance carrier has been trying to obtain my medical records from his Fort Davis and Alpine offices for months. They have received some records but not all. The office staff has provided various conflicting excuses for this failure. I now face the prospect of having my life insurance cancelled due to their ineptitude.

I've never seen a doctors office go so far out of their way to deny care to an well insured patient! Imagine walking into a Dr's office on Wed at 1:30pm and seeing an empty lobby, 3 staff members behind the counter, two nurses walking around and a Dr sitting in his office and then be denied care. Ive been a patient at Dr Lueckes office for over 20 years and am sad to say that I will be traveling the 60 mile round trip for better quality care.
