Dr. James M Macnutt, DO

Dr.Macnutt performed a carple tunnel release on me 1 year ago. He severed a nerve in my thumb. I have suffered loss of mobility and I'm on constant pain. After a follow up with him, he shrugged his shoulders and told me it was " out of his scope " . I've contacted the hospital and no remedy has been offered. Would not recommend.

After several years of suffering from a spinal condition and with the opinion of several Doctors from Florida and Maine, I felt confident enough to have surgery a few months ago. My recovery was as explained to me and my quality of life returned to what it was 10 or 15 years ago. My opinion of Dr. Macnutt is highly positive and respectful.

This man took over my father's care after he had fallen for an unknown reason. The doctor before him had ordered more in depth testing to see cause and progression of the bleeding in his brain. When Dr. Macnutt came into take over for his shift he refused to do the testing the previous dr had ordered. This would have told us more about what caused it, any progression etc.. he said no, that his job isn't to find out what caused it(ie: stroke, tumor..) but to treat him. He had all of us in the room(about 10 or so of us) and told us no, that he didn't care about what we wanted and that he was the expert and that me trying to "bully" him wasn't going to change his mind! He did this in front of me, my siblings, and my mother!! No one was trying to bully him but we were all angry that he didn't care more about my father, his situation, or us! The nurses came in afterwards and all had to apologize for him and his behavior! It was so embarrassing for them you could tell! This man is so… arrogant and rude and disrespectful it was literally the worst experience of my life so far! Not just because my father then died 24hrs later without anyone knowing the how or why, but because of this man's rude disrespectful behavior! He may be very good at what he does but that's no excuse to treat people like this! My mother did end up filing a complaint w/ the hospital but we never did end up hearing anything back afterwards! I loved/love this hospital he worked at-not sure if he is still there or not.. but I will NEVER send anyone i love who may have neuro related issues to the hospital that he is practicing at! Never!

My son is walking today because of Dr Macnutt who I believe God used in a mighty way! Words would never come close to expressing how grateful I am. After doing surgery all day, Dr Macnutt took time to walk up to my son's floor to speak with me, at the request of a nurse, because I was so distraught. We are blessed to have a doctor like him in our area.

Why is DR Mcnutt no longer at St Luke's? Just now able to get surgery and now we start over again with a new DR. Very frustrating!!
