Saved my life

This guy is the most obnoxious doctor I have ever met. I can't say anything of his care as I am still new to him, but he is incredibly pretentious and doesn't even hear out my concerns regarding a material medication change at his recommendation. He also scoffed at the idea of discussing with my pediatric doctor why I was on my current medication regimented and said quote, "I would not find that useful at all". Be a little more humble and focus on how you talk to patients.

When I read the negative comments on this site, I think that they must be talking about someone else. I have never witnessed any negative behavior. I think Dr. Marion is a kind, nice man, aside from being a very competent doctor. He has always been responsive to me. I have written him on My Chart frequently and he always answers almost immediately with helpful suggestions. I highly recommend him.

I can't believe the negative reviews on this site. I have been Dr. Marion's patient for years and were it not for him, I would still be suffering from my Crohn's disease. Within a couple of months under his care, I went into remission and continue to be so.

James Marion has a severe attitude problem. He is easily frustrated by patient questions and has a massive chip on his shoulder.

I have been Dr. Marion's patient for the past 4 years. I have Crohn's disease and was referred to him by my former GI doctor who was retiring. Dr. Marion is extremely knowledgeable and my Crohn's has gone into remission under his care. He spends as much time as you need to ask him questions and he answers them patiently. I have never felt rushed. He makes his patients feel confident that their illness is very much manageable. In fact, every time I leave his office, I feel that Crohn's isn't such a horrible disease after all!!

Dr. Marion is incredibly arrogant and abrasive. I came to him as a new patient with a number of questions pertaining to my Crohn’s diagnosis and his recommended plan of treatment. I came to the appt incredibly calm, collected and equipped with a number of questions, and I was treated with complete disrespect. He was annoyed by the number of questions I posed and was verbally aggressive- to an alarming degree- when I once asked him to please let me finish speaking as he continuously dismissed what I had to say mid-sentence. This is NOT the doctor for you if you are seeking to thoroughly understand your condition and treatment options. Marion is very clearly a dr who can only deal with patients who submissively role over and let him run the show. Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a physician. I’m shocked he has any positive reviews.

Strange man. Sometimes he was genuinely warm and caring, other times he was sadistically cruel to both myself and my parent, and other times he was out of his mind. One time in particular, his speech was slurred and he was oddly mispronouncing both common words as well as medical terms. He was normal-ish again the next time I saw him, but I'm very thankful that he had his associate perform my colonoscopy!

Methodical. Informative. Very personable, extremely kind & genuinely nice person

Dr. Marion has proven himself to be very poor in dealing with patients. Some of the other (negative) reviews make perfect sense to me. He has a serious attitude problem, and there is no excuse for treating patients badly. He has made inappropriate comments ("I'm surprised you're still alive...", "Don't waste my time."), was quite rude to my mother, and doesn't like being questioned. There are so many qualified doctors in the city, that there is no reason to even consider going to him. Seriously...if you're looking for a good doctor and considering a visit to Marion, you should reconsider. Although I think he's a relatively high-profile GI specialist with competent skills as a clinician, I don't have any personal proof that he's anything special. He may have helped many patients with his advice, but that doesn't negate anything I've said. If I could file a complaint against him and have him reprimanded, I would do it. I didn't have a problem with his staff or wait times,… etc...they were adequate. But this particular doctor should be avoided
