Dr. James Barile Mark, DO

Fell at work, brought to nearest urgent care. Broke knee cap, told to follow up with dr next day. Having been Dr. Mark's patient over 15 years, called to get appointment. Scheduler said because I wasn't seen in a Finger Lakes Health Urgent Care it wasn't an emergency. Offered an appointment one month away. Will NOT be going back. Found another doctor to fix the broken knee cap.

I saw Dr. Mark after a nerve conduction study showed carpal tunnel of both wrists and lesion of the ulnar nerve upper left limb. He explained everything and how the surgery would be performed. Surgical nurse gave me a surgery date of 15 days later(surgery is tomorrow). I am not the easiest patient and every note I’ve written to him on the portal was answered promptly and mainly with a phone call. The woman who called me was extremely understanding and helped ease my concerns and made me laugh. So far, Dr. Mark and his staff are top notch in my book! Hopefully surgery tomorrow goes flawlessly but I have the utmost respect for Dr. Mark, Danielle, his physician assistant and honestly everyone I have seen or spoken to has been nothing short of a delight. He is straight forward and to the point, but isn’t that what you want in a surgeon? I also really respect that I am included in my care and instead of being TOLD what will work best, I was asked how I felt about it and if it was ok with… me. No doctor has ever included me in my care and I have nothing but respect for Dr. Mark and his team!

If you are going for a shoulder surgery and that isn’t it he is a great surgeon, if you are having other issues and he can relate that to the shoulder he will convince you that the shoulder is the problem and surgery is needed. Once the surgery is done and you tell him the original symptoms are still present as they were before surgery, this ignorant doctor, will say it is all in your head and he can’t fix that! He thinks he is above God and he carries that perception well! I would recommend you go somewhere else if you can

Dr Mark gives you the unvarnished truth be it good, bad or ugly but he does so with great empathy for his patients. He found and fixed a major mistake made by another hospital group on my daughters knee from a dancing injury with amazing results. He has repaired both knees I sustained and will be repairing a shoulder injury soon. I wouldn't go to anyone else. He is simply the best.

I have been experiencing pain around my elbow and forearm for four months. I have gone through multiple treatments and therapy for tennis elbbow and tricep tendonitis. Dr. Mark is not my normal ortho.(I have been seeing another doctor in the same practice) but got to experience his lack of kindness when i called on a saturday because I was begining to have a burning sensation near my elbow that traveled down to my fingers. I began to go over with him what had been going on to get him up to speed on the past couple of months. I no sooner started speaking before I got cut off and reminded that it was SATURDAY and there was nothing he could do and continued to tell me that it was a waste of time to go to the ER. I can only assume he was given some history by the receptionist. For him to tell me not to go to the ER would be fine if he knew why I was calling. I was only concerned that something else was going on. I have an appointment with my normal ortho on wednesday to go over the MRI to… discuss if there is an option for surgey, you can bet I will be putting a formal complaint in. All I have to say is , IF YOU CANT HANDLE BEING CALLED ON A SATURDAY BY A PATIENT YOU ARE IN THE WRONG FIELD.
