Dr. James Anthony Mavec, MD

If you want a doctor who’s office personnel will try to not book you an appointment if you had seen Dr Mavec in the past but had to see another GI because Mavec is booked 2-3 months out, this is the place for you. If you want a doctor who won’t listen, won’t run any of his own tests, barely asks any questions, offers no assistance at all and then shows you the door then Dr Mavec is your guy. I’ve been sick for 2 years, unable to eat because of constant nausea, and lost 30lbs in 6 months. Dr Mavec’s only advice was to ignore my last GI’s diagnosis of being fructose intolerant and just eat whatever I want. I seriously waited a month to see this doc and his only advice to a person who is so nauseous and sick he has lost 30lbs because he can’t eat without feeling sick was to just eat whatever I want. If you don’t want any help or caring from a doc, Mavec is you man!

Cant understand the bad reviews. He was courteous and answered all my concerns in a professional manner. I was very satisfied with the exam and the follow up. I would recommend him to anyone needing this procedure, even though the prep was terrible.

Found him to be arrogant, condescending and in no way did I feel like he wanted to be asked any questions. Would never recommend him. I’d heard that from nursing friends and other patients that he had poor bedside manner and not well liked. Now I see why!

My mother and I both go to Dr. Mavec (he's helped my mother for over 25 years). He's very professional, calm, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't want to see anyone else!

Made a couple of sly remarks during our first appointment. Very rude. When he visited me at the hospital his eyes looked glassy and he acted odd. My condition did not improve under his care.

Great doctor. He listened to everything I had to say and really thought about the best approach. He was able to diagnose and prescribe medication to fix a GI problem I've had for 10 years after just a couple of appointments and one procedure. I'm no longer in pain everyday because of him.

I felt that Dr Mavec is a good doctor. I don't feel like he wastes my time or his with an hour long chat about how my family is. He addressed my medical concerns. I appreciate the straight forward approach from a doctor

I'm very surprised by the comments shown. I have been seeing Dr. Mavec for 10 years and I have always had the best experience with him. He is thorough and takes the time to listen to my concerns. Diagnosis has always been accurate. I believe he truly cares about his patients.
