Dr. James Arthur Mechenbier, MD

I had an ultrasound a week ago for an enlarged thyroid and needed a biopsy. My primary sent me to Dr. Mechenbier so I assumed he would be just as good if not better. The receptionist is old and not exactly helpful, friendly but doesnt know what the dr ever does or will do. The office has a 1980's decor about it, I know that shouldn't bother me but it did. However everything did seem clean. The exam room...there was a small metal.motorized table from the 20's and the chair was very old. I felt like I was in a horror movie. He did perform the biopsy. Now, I YouTubed this procedure and watched a few procedures to see exactly what I was in for and this looked a d read lime a walk in the park for the most part. He numbed my neck, no biggie. The cell collecting was awful...it hurt so bad and told he had to stop from the pain. He did finish and couldn't believe it was so bad. I have had many surgeries, tests, a csection and more and that right there was the worst. … He said if surgery is needed he won't do it but send me to Ohio State to be in good hands. He didn't want to talk about anything regarding my thyroid, just wants to wait for the results. While I can understand that, I dont like it and think he should have been better. His assistant was very nice and concerned about my pain that I was in and asked if I was several times afterwards....if not for her, well she was my god send in that office. I will not go back and do not recommend.

Dr Mechenbier is a joke. I left his office wondering even if he was a doctor! We were in there for two hours and of that only 10 minutes was with him. The whole office is very unprofessional and dirty and the receptionist is rude and doest know what the heck she is doing. The doctor gave me no help at all. Basically all we did was go in and tell him what was wrong and all he did was restate what we said back to us and asked questions we already answered. He told us nothing helpful at all it was a waist of time and money! DO NOT SEE HIM!

I was told by the ER to see the Dr. in 2 days. He did surgeries on that day so he brought me in as the last patient on the next day. He was great for a first time visit and very informative and answered all my questions. Added plus, being a jovial patient, I was pleased to see he had a sense of humor. Second visit -samo same. Both times I was out of the office in 25 to 30 minutes.
