Dr. James Pickens, MD

I've been Jim's patient since he opened his practice in the late1980s. He's compassionate and a good listener.

Dr. Pickens and his staff are top notch! I would recommended them to anyone who wants to be treated with respect, kindness and sincerity.

Dr. Pickens is an extremely well rounded physician, listens very well and has an excellent memory (or studies his great records?) of his patients.

Every month I have to call this doctor for a refill on my medicine. I have to call several times to get him to take care of this. It takes him more than a week to do something that could be taken care of the same day. Don't go here. He doesn't care.

He's a really good doctor. The issue I have with him is that he doesn't get back to you on your lab results, and if he does its some time later. I've known of people that have gone to him and months later find out about an issue that had that appeared on their lab work. I Once called and asked if I could pick up my lab results, and they gave me the results from a year before. Their billing is also a mess. When I called to speak to the billing lady, she claimed that people in my area don't recieve their mail sometimes...that's the only Mail that I have issues receiving. He's a good doctor, but I feel the negative outweighs the positive.

Upon my recommendation my family changed to Dr. James Pickens. I am second guessing my recommendation. The office staff is very discombobulated. Just trying to make an appointment is a task by itself. For an example: My family and I tried to make an appointment for our mother and was informed he (Dr James Pickens) was in the office until noon. Not only did we try calling to schedule an appointment for my mother we had a family member drive to his office at 8a.m. The family members that tried calling in from 8am to 10 am would get a busy signal. The family member that arrived at his office at 8am stood at the appointment window for approximately 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged her. The family member tried to schedule an appointment that day. We were informed he was working til noon on this particular day. I myself called and asked his staff to have Dr. Pickens call my mother. Do you think he called? The answer is no. At 11:00 am a follow up call was made asking to speak with… Dr Pickens and we were informed he was not in the office. What happened to working til noon. Very disappointed with the service Dr Pickens and his staff provided my family.

I think Dr. Pickens is a great physician. I like his bedside manner, and how he listens to you. Great physician. My child has even seen him and he dx a problem her pediatrician kept missing. For that, I am very thankful! Sometimes you have to wait, but well worth it for a caring, knowledgeable physician.

Dr. Pickens is an excellent diagnostician. I have never had a doctor who is so willing a listener, even if it means taking some extra time with me or any of my family members. His follow-up was very much appreciated.

Excellent physician. Front office is typical of any office which looks at customers as a chore!I highly recommend him if you live anywhere in the area.

Jim is one of the most patient doctors I've ever used. He always makes time for his patients' needs, even it makes for a longer wait.
