Dr. James Henry Pridgen, MD

Office not sanitary, long wait, zero follow/up, no eye contact, distracted..... I absolutely do not recommend this practice ...

I was a patient of his P.A.'s at Southside Medicine in Wilmington. Which he is the head physician of. I have seen his P.A. for over 2 years. I love her. She is compassionate and has a great bed side manner, however, she was out of town for a month, so Dr. Pridgen took her place. Well, I suffer from a Chronic Pain Auto Immune disease, plus have several Ortho problems, which required me to have surgery on both of my ankles. I have been on pain management for over 5 years, and 2 of those years were through his P.A. When my appointment came for the month that the P.A. was gone and I had to see Pridgen, he was so rude, lacked empathy, tried telling me that my auto immune disease was not real....Although I see a specialist for it in Chapel Hill. By the time I left my appointment, I was in tears. After 2 years, and a wonderful Dr./Patient relationship with his P.A., I will no longer come to this office...he treated me that badly. I will always recommend his P.A. but will NEVER recommend this… man at all. I have never been so disrespected and talked down to by a physician in my entire life.

I saw Dr. Pridgen for the first time for swollen and extremely painful ankle joints. I had been seeing a multitude of doctors for years for a multitude of problems including migraine headaches that had made me on the verge of suicidal at times. Dr. Pridgen took the time to listen to my complicated and extensive medical history and prescribed doxycycline. I have not had another incidence of swollen joints and my headaches are much better. He also has a wonderful bedside manner, very polite, patient, and compassionate.

I have never experienced a more rude arrogant doctor than this one. He was abrasive and cold during office visit. I will not be recommending him to anyone. I have been going to his practice in holly ridge since it opened and will not be going there any longer.

Unwilling to compromise. Very "cocky".

I don't doubt Dr. Pridgen's abilities as a Physician. However, the problem I had with Whiteville Urgent Care North is related to Dr. Pridgen's team/staff. They were extremely slow in providing me with my diagnosis. They were also slow in providing information to and communicating with my primary physician for follow-up purposes. It took a week to find out what was wrong with me and another week for them to respond to my multiple requests to forward the information to my regular doctor. At no time did they contact me, I always had to initiate contact with them. When I did make contact with them, the comments that were made to me by his staff were, "we are really busy today" and on another day, "we are understaffed". What I heard (of course) was, "I don't have time for you and don't care about your situation". The next time I have a medical issue when my primary physician's office is closed, I will go to the emergency room instead.

Brought my daughter in on an urgent care basis while vacationing out of town. I was completely amazed with the level of care we received. The doctor took his time with us, ordered only the appropriate tests and treated appropriately. Doctor even called and followed up that night to check on her progress. Overall I was impressed.

He was the doctor that saw my son at urgent care after we waited 4 hours. He was very rude, and did not do anything for my son. He was arrogant, and when I asked him what was wrong with my son, he said, "I don't know, thats why it's the practice of law." He also told me I was paranoid when asking about the use of tylenol for over a week, and was just overall very disrespectful and rude. I would never go back to see him again, even if it meant me being in agony. I refuse.

Only patient and I waited one hour and he gave me meds I was already on and he had to know bc they ask what meds your on he didn't say the generic name so I didn't know he basically tricked me He had on bball shoes cargo green pants and a t shirt he wasn't professional at all. Twice he left while diagnosing me and twice I heard him joking and laughing with his nurses while I sat there I was in there for 2 hours for him to give me meds I already have.
