Dr. James Michael Probasco, MD

This doctor will only spend 20 minutes with you, if he can’t figure it out in 20 min he will just prescribe something random or literally just tell you he doesn’t know what’s wrong with you and send you home, no referrals or suggestions unless you ask for yourself and when you do ask he gets offended that you have. If you have something very minor and easy to diagnose he is very friendly but if you have something that has been a on going concern don’t bother, almost every time I have gone to him I have still had to go into the ER or urgent care to get treatment within a week later.

A very good Doctor. My entire family uses him for medical care.

It's easy to tell he cares a lot about his patients. He's easy to talk to and he has a desire to meet a person's needs

I have been seeing Dr. Probasco for years and though he is very nice I do not think he is a good doctor. As others have said, he is very strict on the 15 minute time rule. I always feel rushed and if you bring up anything other than what you are scheduled to see him for he brushes you off. He is very quick to prescribe meds and if you push it he will refer you to a specialist but over all he is pretty useless. I have been suffering from a handful of symptoms over the last 3 + years and while he did basic tests and sometimes prescribed meds, his usual response is and always has been "come back if it doesn't go away". He's all about having you come back, obviously because he gets paid on you going back to him. Finally, after years of suffering, a weight loss clinic of all places noted my symptoms and did testing which found I was severely hyperthyroid. I took their results back to him who (of course) referred me to an endocrinologist (who is great). After additional tests, biopsy's, etc,… it turns out I have thyroid cancer and Graves disease! I feel his lack of concern and nonchalant bedside manner caused this to go undiagnosed for so long. I do not recommend this doctor, save your self time and money and go see a specialist.

I was really happy to talk to this doctor who took all the time needed to explain my conditions and then explain the different options for treatment. He asked what I thought would be best for me and after telling him I did not know then he told me what he felt would be the best treatment for me since I was not sure which of the options I was most comfortable with. He is very strict with keeping his time with the patient which is why I did not have to wait so long and I got in to see him on time.

I have always had a hard time trusting doctors but Dr. Probasco quickly put my mind at ease and it was evident that he truly cares about his patients. The doctor gave me ideas on what he feels would work for me but he didn't push me into anything; everything is my decision. Most importantly, I told him about a pre-existing medical condition that two other medical professionals who looked at me and asked, "what's that" but Dr. Probasco knew exactly what I was talking about when I told him of the condition.

I do not believe that Dr. Probasco has a good bedside manner and when it comes to spending time with patients he takes it to heart with 20 minute rule with patients. I am not happy with this Dr. and am in the process of trying to find another Dr.
