Dr. James Lawrence Proffitt II, MD

Ive been to many doctors in my life. This one has a terrific bedside manner. My health has greatly improved. He took the time to help me receive the specialty care I needed. Im very grateful to him for all he has done and the kindness he has shown me over the years.

Dr. James L. Proffitt treated me by what policymakers wanted and not by what we needed. Like when I fell on my hip and had to endure a 120 mile trip to his office he wanted me to drive all the way to Portland (another 5 hours in the car) to get an x-ray even though St Charles was across the street. Because the VA slashed his funding and he would get into trouble (his words). Then when my cabin was robbed and door was cut off the hinges I got a call that my yearly urinalysis (which is all the tests he wanted to do ever)to make sure I was taking my pain meds (which I always did as directed) when I said I needed time to secure my property, he cut off ALL my meds.. As a pharmacist he knew that taking me off a high dose of opioids cold turkey would do.. I was on them for ten years.. But he also cut off my sleeping pills, my high blood pressure pills, my Ibuprofen, my testosterone, lidocaine patches. omeprazole for heartburn, I live in a very remote place and nearly died here.. He did send… out a Sheriff to do a welfare check right before he did it and probably never even gave me another thought.. Remove yourself from his care or you could suffer badly.. A year later and I'm still trying to get my life back together..

Dr. Proffitt is the best doctor I have ever seen. I know he also has a doctorate in pharmacology. He is very good at knowing what medications should not mix. Believe he studied at University of Kansas and has 17 years experience total. ER, clinicals, hospitalist and now an asset for the VA. I would highly recommend him, he cares about his patients and has helped me tremendously.

Dr pROFFITT is a good doctor,But as a doctor for the VA he will only do what is required to do as per the VA.Im sure this is due to high patient load.If you expect him to go to bat for you it won't happen.
