Dr. James M Severson III, MD

I found Dr. Severson to be a helpful and caring doctor. He did a thorough exam, and explained his findings in understandable language. I have no idea why anyone would say he was arrogant, as I thought he was very personable. He did not prescribe unneeded antibiotics. The hearing test showed slight hearing loss at the high end of the spectrum, however he said hearing at the voice range was just fine and did not sell me expensive hearing aids I don't need. He suggested an over the counter antihistamine without decongestant (no decongestants allowed with glaucoma). I would go back.

Dr. Severson has worked wonders on my clogged ears. He's careful and professional.

Seems to have a god complex. Very poor bedside manner and his diagnosis contradicted what 2 other doctors have said. (Got a diagnosis from a second ENT after that visit, plus talked to my GP). Would not reccomend him.

This was my 1st experience with an ENT. I assumed they all knew what they were doing and would care. WRONG. I've been treated several times including a tube in my right ear. I still have the same issues I walked in with. He does not encourage follow up of any kind. I had to ask. What next? No response. He charges $94 for a missed appointment but left 2 of us sitting in the waiting room 30-60 minutes past our appointment time without any explanation.

I was referred to this specialist in Ear, Nose & Throat due to an unidentified mass found in a ct scan. This horrible man actually walked into the exam room and huffed at me, "What are you doing here?" I'm not sure, but I don't think that's the way to speak to a patient who you intend to respect your judgment not to mention to pay you. He then proceeded to stomp off to request my scan results since he didn't have them. I honestly couldn't remember what exactly my PCP had said about it other than something by my lymph nodes, so I told him that they were swollen or something. He came back into the exam room triumphantly with one line of my lab report highlighted that stated "no lymphadenopathy". When asked about the mass mentioned in the same report, he had to snatch it back and read it. He hadn't even read the report! Only the line he was looking for. My persistent sore throat caused him to scope up my nose and down my throat. I had some redness above my vocal cords...above… them. He said it was acid reflux, gave me a list of foods to avoid and told me to take Prilosec. This did not work. Acid reflux is not the problem. Common sense tells me that the redness would start lower in the throat with acid, but I'm not a doctor. Of course, I have an appointment with a different ENT now to ensure this yahoo isn't ignoring anything important. Visit at your own risk.

My son has had to deal with a lot of medical issues growing up and has a very real fear of doctors. Dr. Severson did not try to ease his fear and explain what would happen, instead told him that he had "no time for negotiations" and would have his nurse come in to schedule the hospital so he could sedate him rather than trying to work with him in the office. You would think bedside manner would be more important seeing as he is an ENT. I walked out on this appointment.

I took off work early to make this appt. only to find out they were running behind (I understand a little). Then while I was getting my ears cleaned by the doctor, his cell phone rings & he excuses himself, leaves the room to answer. I had my hearing checked & needed to see him afterwards & he just seemed very short on answers, not sitting to explain his diagnosis with me, again his phone rings, end of visit. With it being the end of the day on Friday I felt like I was putting him out being there. Getting 2nd opinion....

I went to see Dr. Severson at his Mulford office for repeat sinus infections and foul ododr out of sinus, he without any warning sprayed some numbing agent up my nose and stuck a scope up my nose down back of my throat with out any warning or explanation of his minor procudure! Kinda peved me off I as a nurse you always explain first what you are going to do to your patient... Had a minor sinus surgery by him and am still haveing issues got a 20.00 bill in mail that I over looked and they wouldnt see me anymore, have since paid the bill and have been seeing Dr. Zaharullha and he is excellent cleared me up for a while now haveing issues again and have to see Dr. Severson tomorrow cuz Dr. Z is on vacation...Not sure if looking forward to this and hope he listens to me as a nurse and what treatment I need to clear me up until Dr.Z gets back.

We were referred by our pediatrician and a lactation specialist for a possible lip and tongue tie. She had all the signs. He was very rude and didn't seem concerned for her well being. Didn't seem knowledgeable and up to date on latest procedures. Didn't seem like he even read her notes/referal. We told them she wouldn't take a pacifier and he later asked us if we had one. All he did was try to convince us of the possible negative effects, not the possibility the procedure could help us. I wouldn't go see this man again if I was dying!

I was very impressed with his bedside manner. I did not feel rushed as he answered all of my questions.
