Dr. James Carroll Strickland, MD

I had two hip replacements done at different times by Dr. Strickland. I was a high risk patient due to a blood disease that makes my blood clot, so he took extra care and time to get me through recovery. I went from intense daily pain to absolutely no pain after surgery. I took pain pills for one day and then never needed them again. I was back at work in 3 weeks without a cane or anything else. My neighbor used someone else. After 10 years I walk with no pain or aids or any change in how I always walked before. My neighbor still limps and on occasion uses a cane. I would NEVER go to anyone else.

Dr. Strickland has been my orthopedic surgeon since 1973. He is kind, gentle, patient and always has time to make sure every detail about surgeries were understood. He did two of my surgeries at St. .marys Hospital, I was in a serious head on accident in Illinois at two in afternoon. I could not be transferred until stable, around 11:30, even though he was on staff at another hospital, when I arrived at St. Marys everything had been arranged. I was taken straight to private room. Much to my surprise Dr. Strickland, my orthopedist, my wonderful internist Dr. Edwin H. Schmidt III, my ever present neurosurgeon Dr. David Kennedy, who operated on my spine twice, were waiting at 11:00 or 11:30 at night, a Friday. They wanted to make sure I was okay, they stayed and talked to my husband for quite a while. I have been very fortunate that I had the best for all of my conditions. Dr. STRICKLAND is kind, compassionate, understanding and always is available when needed, it seems to have… rubbed off on his staff, who are always patient and kind. I have been fortunate to have, what I believe, to be the best in their field. We are all around the same age and wonder where I will find their replacements. DR. STRICKLAND Thant you for the many years of exemplary care and a friendship, I never question your course of treatment. I have sent many , many friends, family to him, they too were equally impresses by his overall care. Many many thanks to the kindness, compassion, friendship and exemplary care you have given me throughdiddicult times! My best to you, much. Happiness and joy for all you have done for so many! D

This is not a review about Dr. Strickland or any of his surgical associates but I have lost all respect for his decision making skills in hiring the most incredibly rude and inadequate Doctor in the hiring of Sandra Tate who does not deserve the title of Doctor. She is without question the most inadequate, rude and truly disinterested in anyone who has the misfortune of being forced to see her under Workmans Comp. I seriously have much less confidence in his integrity with this horrid woman in his once highly regarded practice. Will not be visiting again.

I had knee surgery done by Dr. Strickland three months ago. My experience with both Dr. Strickland and his staff was all positive. Very pleasant environment,prompt with appointments, everyone very friendly. I appreciate his conservative approach to my problem. as well as his referral to PT to help get my strength back. I would definitely feel confident in referring a family member or friend to Dr. Strickland.

I have had knee surgery with Dr. Strickland a number of years ago and I was totally satisfied, enough to recommend him to my son who also had knee surgery. I am going to have my other knee done this spring and I am looking forward to seeing Dr. Strickland again, this time in a new location.

Dr. Strickland performed a total knee replacement for me. Now nearly 3 months later I am still experiencing more pain than I did before the surgery. Just past 4 weeks post surgery an apparent staph infection was noted by my physical therapist, who called my surgeon's office immediately. Dr. Strickland's office returned the call nearly 2 hours later and advised me to wait 5 days before getting in for an appointment. My general physician saw me and responded with medical treatment immediately. Dr. Strickland finally saw me 6 days after the infection had begun and put me on another 10 day course of a sulfa antibiotic. Five days after that I developed severe flu-like symptoms, chills, shaking and high fever. I called Dr. Strickland's office and left message with his phone assistant. The call was never returned. My husband took me to our general physician again, and he admitted me to hospital immediately. Diagnosis was life-threatened systemic reaction to the sulfa drug. After all that, I… still have much pain in my leg. I would advise ALL persons against using Dr. Strickland as a surgeon.
