I have always had very compassionate care from Dr. Van Den Bogaerde. He listens to me and includes me and my needs in the plan of care.

Has no empathy for patient. I was denied pain relief after a tibial plateau fracture. It has been three and a half months since the surgery and I wake up at night with shooting pain from my hip to my ankle. I still have swelling in my knee and ankle. I told the doctor I had to take a two week road trip for business and asked for 10 5 mg of an opioid to take at night so I would be alert on road. His excuse in denying me was that it was his "hard and fast" rule not to prescribe narcotics after 3 months from surgery. He said that was because the continued pain might indicate the need for another surgery. He didn't explain how the possible surgery related to my request for pain relief on my trip. Clearly, he didn't care. Not a good look for a physician.

At first I was grateful to have it fixed, but 3 and a half months out I have extreme pain shooting from my hip to my ankle and still have swelling in my knee and ankle. This wakes me up in the middle of the night and my leg feels stiff. I have been trying to get by with baby aspirin since I am allergic to stronger NSAIDs and don't want to take tge alternative non-narcotic due to fatty liver, but I have to leave on a two week road trip for business, so I requested he prescribe ten 5 mg narcotics pills so I could take them when staying at hotels on the road and sleep through the night. He refused saying it was his "hard and fast" policy not to prescribe narcotics after three months as the pain could mean another surgery is needed. There was no concern consideration for my specific circumstances or the fact that no surgery could be done before my trip (I leave in 2 days). When I asked if he could refer me to another doctor who could prescribe pain… relief, he refused. Do yourself a favor and avoid this sadistic little twerp. It was clear from his behavior that he couldn't care less if his elderly patient was in pain.

He was super cool about the whole thing, he described what kinds of surgery would be preformed and what kind of treatment options where available, very talented and hard working doctor

Dr. VDB is a wonderful doctor! He genuinely cares and wants to do only the best for his patient. I trust him completely!!

He repaired my fully ruptured infraspinatus and supraspinatus (aka blown rotator cuff) several years ago. Did an awesomely terrific job.
