Dr. Jane Cleveland, PhD

Dr. Cleveland is stunning as an expert in the court room. She for sure is one of the reasons I won my case. She is an absolute expert and so professional!

I feel compelled to tell my story. We took my daughter to see Dr. Jane almost 2 years ago during a very dark time for my daughter. We were not sure how we would ever get her through. Now my daughter is the light we have always known her to be- she is excelling, happy and free of the depression that plagued her. Dr. Jane has been a gift to us and is the main reason our daughter is now happy. We trust her implicitly.

I contacted Jane multiple times via voicemail and email stating my children were in need. She responded 22 days later. The first session with my children was over 35 days from initial contact. (Red flag) My ex wouldn't allow the children to see anyone except her. (Red flag) But I assumed she would follow her code of ethics. After a number of times meeting with the children, she then brought me in with them. She wanted to know what I was hoping the children would achieve through counseling. I answered. She said; oh no, I don't think that's it. (Red flag) I was answering my children's questions. Jane asked me to give them an example, so I did. Less than 5 minutes later, I asked my children to give me an example. She immediately interrupted and said I was just trying to look perfect. (Red flag) I told her I was trying to define the issue so I would know what to change about me. I asked what would be a better way. She didn't have an answer. (Red flag) Shortly thereafter I answered my… child's question and she told me that was an inappropriate answer. I asked her how I should've answered it. She didn't have a response. (Red flag) About 20 minutes, or less, she suddenly began accusing me of my behavior with my children on my parenting time (not in the session). The accusations came after asking me zero questions about me or the situation. Of course I was blindsided as 100% of the accusations were false. But I guess that's expected when zero questions have been asked. (Red flag) I have asked her for a one on one meeting to clear up misunderstandings/misguided accusations. It has been over 60 days since this request. She will not respond with a time. (Red flag) After discussing this setting/behavior with other clinical therapists and reviewing the code of ethics of the CO Association of Psychotherapists, there appears to be issues with Jane's approach in which I think others should be aware.

I don't write reviews often, but I have found it hard to find a good therapist. Dr. Cleveland has been amazing. I am so glad I found her.
