Dr. Janet Goto Doran, MD

I find Dr. Doran to be a caring and knowledgeable Dr. But feel she is always on to the next patient before she finished addressing my concerns. I always feel like I need to hurry and leave. She is on the cool side but I guess that is just her personality.

Dr Doran is a wonderful doctor. She is caring, she listens, and she iis knowledgeable in all areas of medicine. She is the Best if the Best

Office staff was to follow up with insurance and pharmacy and call me back. They didn't. Dr. Doran's manner is cold and off putting. She told me that all statins are the same (they aren't as some specifically target proteins than others). I finally wad able to see her PA, Ramsey, who was appalled at my ratio and agreed to switch me to a different statin. When I asked about non hormonal treatments Dr. Doran said that I should go speak with the ladies at the local heath-food store. Dr. Doran seems to go through the motions with no actual patient connection. The billing staff is even worse.

I have been a patient of Doctor Durranâ??s for fifteen years. Her bedside manner is very cold and I have never felt comfortable with her. She doesnâ??t really make me feel she is concern with my welfare. Itâ??s like she is just trying to get to the end of her case load and not concerned in digging into my medical problems. I have felt terrible for many years and trying to get an appointment thereâ??s usually a two month wait, I am told. The office staff is a whole other issue. There great at getting the insurance cards and co-payment, but call back and getting referral is not so easy

I've been a patient of Dr. Doran's for 2 years now. Mostly out of the fact that I live and Gloucester and it's convenient. I have to say, the front office staff at Cape Ann Medical Center is HORRIBLE and have single-handedly helped me make the decision to not return here. Messages left, don't get returned until the 3rd try. They are rude and incompetent. I was fine with Dr. Doran until recently I had an ultra-sound that 'didn't need' follow up and therefore she didn't tell me about a major finding. I only found out after seeing another Dr. who read my records!! Unacceptable. I would not recommend this place or this Dr.

Well, after having a long conversation with the CAMC Administrator, and also with Dr. Doran, I have changed my mind about leaving. Chalk it up to throwing out the baby with the bath water...but more importantly...my many concerns were heard and many were even acted upon! I was not trying to bend the Medical Center to my every whim, all I am trying to do is to feel better, to get better. Sometimes it takes understanding on BOTH sides to come to an amenable conclusion! Dr. Doran and her clinical staff continues to provide excellent care for this very difficult and challenging patient who has a laundry list of conditions and medications.Now this day, it was a packed house, so the wait was a bit longer then normal! No problem, as sometimes I need more time to see the doctor and put myself in the other person's shoe as that visit could well have been myself! As it was a few weeks ago...I had an urgent appointment because my breathing was getting progressively worse - my dear husband had… to call and was told to bring me right in!In my opinion The administrative staff still has some issues to work on however! Like the day I presented myself to the Medical Center obviously having breathing problems as I could not catch my breath to speak. So after I got to the desk (my husband was trying to find a parking place), I was writing a check for my expected co-pay, when the front desk staffer made it a point to try to discuss my previous balance with balance with me. I could not even complete a sentence so I stopped trying to. Then my husband came in and insisted that she allow me to get treatment immediately and that I will speak with her or with billing when I can breathe properly. He told her that I take care of our financial issues in the family (he had not a clue) and that I had already spoke with the billing dept. earlier that week regarding insurance issues. While I understand that part of her job is to collect payments, she should have used some common sense then! She should have NOT to have attempted to try to get someone who can't breathe to speak with her regarding anything more than trying to get the patient the help they need ASAP!Overall, they are getting batter despite this glitch - perhaps I was not the only one having a bad day...I still LOVE Dr. Doran! Keep up the GREAT work!

The Cape Ann medical center staff have not been rated highly here - justifiably. Their manner is often offhand. But it has improved the last couple of timed I have been there and I hope it persists.Dr Duran though is very attentive and responsive. She is a bit clipped and to the point, so if there's not much wrong with you, don't expect excessive attention,. But if there might be (as I just discovered) she will be on the phone as soon as she knows (e.g. if she gets a lab report). And she is as sharp as a pin. Highly recommended.

I have been with Dr. Doran whose office is with the Cape Ann Medical Center for 15 years. I feel that she always had my best interest at heart every time I saw her. She is caring and efficient. I am a disabled woman with multiple health issues who has 9 other doctors who also handle my medical issues, and Dr. Doran assists with the coordination of my complex health care. While I am not the easiest patient to deal with on my best days, she has always been kind, honest, forthright, and professional when working with me. It is extremely sad that I am about to leave her due to the way that this office is managed. I am NOT happy with the bureaucracy of the Cape Ann Medical Center's policies. Like making patients pick up certain written prescriptions only between 4:00PM-5:00PM only when the medical center is open until 6:00PM. Like their call center reps questioning me when I call in a prescription that does not immediately "show up on their screen" despite that I spelled out the… name, gave the exact doseage and instructions. Heck, I have been taking this medication for 10 years - I should KNOW what I take. It is in my file and besides, if there were a question, that would be for Dr. Doran to answer - NOT a call center rep! The straw that broke the camel's back was call center reps that insist upon getting very personal information about your condition whenever you call to leave a message for the doctor to return the call. It is like they are not satisfied with your more more generic note. ie: I don't wish to discuss toilet issues with anyone but my doctor, but they try to pursue more information, just the same. I am tired of hearing "this is the medical center's policy..."So, I am going to reduce my blood pressure by taking my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, that means that I will have to say goodbye to my dear Dr. Doran, who has nothing to do with these ridiculous and invasive policies. If you can put up with the CAMC, I would recommend Dr. Janet Doran as your PCP very highly!LOVE: Dr. Doran HATE: Cape Ann Medical Center
