Dr. Janet Strain, MD

My father went to Dr. Strain. She did an angioplasty on him. During the procedure something went terribly wrong. He was not being watched during the procedure. A piece of plaque got loose and traveled to his brain causing a massive stroke. He became vegetative and did not survive. Also, my friend's husband uses Dr. Strain. My friend informed me that Dr. Strain is always looking up information on the internet. I would not recommend her.

She treats you with the concern and compassion of a friend. She speaks to you ... not at you. Her knowledge and skills keep my mind at ease.

Dr. Strain seems to be a decent cardiologist but her office's practices are not desirable and could end you up in the morgue. She operated on me and I visited her office several times but because of my business travel schedule I was not able to see her one year after my last visit. Repeated calls to refill my heart medication were denied. So I called her office and made an appointment but they could only schedule me 2 months after I called and they told me they will send my pharmacy a refill prescription after I had already ran out of my medication. Several days later after repeated calls to her office I was told they cancelled my medication because I did not see her within one year. I guess I can wait a couple of months and if I'm not dead or paralyzed she might give me a prescription for my heart medicine!!!!

My mother wound up at Valley Hospital after going into heart failure on the very same day I was coming up (from DC to New Jersey)to take her for a surgical consult for aortic valve replacement.She is very anxious and because of this she sounded like she had dementia to the surgeon who came in to see her. He declared her a bad surgical candidate because of this.Dr. Strain came in and talked quietly with my mother , which calmed her down and she was able to see that she was totally clear headed, just extremely anxious! Dr. Strain performed a cardiac cath to see if my mother had vessel disease. Beforehand, she explained everything to me and also spoke to my sister-in-law(who is also a cardiologist in Arizona) on the phone. All of this really reassured me as I was very worried about my mother having a cardiac cath in the first place.Especially since I didn't really know the doctors in New Jersey.I was actually reassured by her good ratings on this site, so I decided to post, in case my… review can give someone else reassurance.I would sy she spent at least an hour more of her time than many other doctors who am have been in the same position. And talk time is in no way paid to her by Medicare or any other insurance.

Dr. Strain spent alot of time with me, and let explain all of my symptoms. She was willing to address all of my medical concerns. I really felt that she focused her attention on me. Great doctor.

She really took the time to listen to my problems and gave me great advice.

From the moment she walked in the room I felt that her focus was on me. She took the ti me to listen to me and my concerns. What excellent bedside manner.

Was waiting with entire staff as ambulance pulled into hospital. Best bedside manner ever! Angiogram reveiled blockage and stent implanted. Totally professional, caring, and knowledgeable as is her associate, Dr. "D"

BEWARE OF THE BAIT & SWITCH! I made an appointment to see DR.STRAIN after she was highly recommended to me from my Doctor. She was on my plan and her years of experience and credentials made me feel confident about going to see this new Dr. I was MADE TO WAIT ALMOST AN HOUR before being seen by a Dr. But the doctor that came into the exam room was not DR STRAIN, but a very young DR who did not have the experience and credentials that DR STRAIN has. He told me that I wasn't seeing the doctor that I made the appointment with, but him. When I expressed my dismay that he wasn't the doctor I was recommended to see and that I felt waiting all this time for the appointment and in the waiting rooms was wasting my time, he then turned nasty and told me "That I Was Wasting His Time". It was then I decided that since I couldn't see DR STRAIN (who was in the office all this time) that I would leave and no longer "waste this young man's time" IF YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE A SPECIFIC DOCTOR FOR… THEIR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, AND REPUTATION YOU SHOULDN'T BE PUSHED OFF TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME CREDENTIALS. I also thought I should have received an apology from DR. STRAIN, but I was led to believe from remarks from the staff that this unequal substitution was very common in thier office. BEWARE!

Dr. Strain is a minority in today's practice of medicine. She is thorough in her discussions of cause, treatment and aftercare. She is genuinely concerned and has excellent patient/client manners. And she is current on options and procedures.
