Dr. Janet Thompson Strausbaugh, MD

I recently took my son to urgent care for a suspected ear infection and Dr. Strausbaugh was the doctor we saw. While I explained what was going on wth my son, she unnecessarily seized the opportunity to offer unsolicited sleep advice - inferring that I am to blame for his wakeups to eat because I continue to give food. Besides the fact that I was there to get my baby's ears checked and not for input regarding sleep, she doesn't even remotely know my son and her criticism was unwelcome and felt like being kicked while I was already down, having just gotten through a night of a baby being up screaming every hour or less due to an ear infection. Terrible experience.

I fully agree with the May, 2016 poster. Dr. Strausbaugh was arrogant, overly confident, and called me “antagonistic” because based on my child’s history, I sincerely doubted her diagnosis. Because of her arrogance, my child was put through an unnecessary MRI (the second with contrast in 24 hours, taxing his kidneys). She told me she was “quite certain” about what the results of the testing would be, and when she was dead wrong (and I was right), she didn’t have the nerve to face me, instead sending a lovely resident in to do it who is already likely a smarter dr than she is. She questioned my caring and empathy for my own child and told me she was “certain I didn’t understand the seriousness of his condition, which could cause permanent disability or disfigurement.” Ultimate diagnosis: a sprained muscle that was aggravating a nerve. Clearly no where near as serious as she wanted me to believe. Dr Strausbaugh is a complete alarmist with a terrible bedside manner who does not respect… patients or parents.

Terrible bedside manner. Does not respect parents' knowledge of child's medical history and dismisses questions with arrogant know-it-all attitude.

She puts a huuuge black mark on the entire office. Very uncaring, superficial and arrogant.

I love her office, but she is terrible. The other doctors are much much better at Pediatric care of York.
