Dr. Janice Louise Mitchell, MD

I was referred to Dr. Janice Mitchell, OBGYN by the nurse at my primary care doctor’s office. I could not have been placed in better hands than Dr. Mitchell, as she has proven to be an incredible OBGYN. Her thoroughness and attention to detail, led to the early detection of my breast cancer and the co-ordination of my diagnosis and surgery, during which time she directed me to and worked with a team of skilled doctors at short notice, during the pandemic. Dr. Mitchell was outstanding at performing Hysterectomy surgery which made post-surgery recovery a breeze. I am eternally grateful for her diligence, expertise and conscientious care, along with her being an attentive listener and spending time addressing my concerns as a patient. In addition, the office staff and nurses, especially Laura, at Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates in Flower Mound, are also especially kind, caring and knowledgeable and take the time to help and treat me like family.

Dr. Mitchell is a great OB. She delivered both of my babies and while both were hard deliveries, she was kind, caring and patient. She's a wonderful doctor who remembers small details that you tell her, cares about your concerns, and puts you at ease. She's knowledgeable and just the doctor I needed!

Dr. Mitchell has been the best OBGYN i've ever seen. I started seeing her when pregnant with my second child; who I ended up miscarrying. She was absolutely wonderful through the experience. I continued to see her and just recently gave birth to my 3rd child under her care. Her prenatal and postpartum care was even better than the good care I received for my first child. She is always available for questions and takes her time during exams. I never felt rushed or like I was squeezed in to a time slot where she didn't actually have time for me. When miscarrying or when I had concerns about my subsequent pregnancy she was quick to do what she could to alleviate the concerns; even to the point of double booking appointments so as to fit me in quickly. And again; even when double booked I didn't feel rushed through the appointment.

I was handed to Dr. Mitchell when my doctor retired. I have seen her twice for routine exams. I can handle the struggle with bedside manner and to be honest she has improved from the first visit to the second. I appreciate her effort and growth. Unfortunately, after discussing some issues I was having she ordered additional tests. She probably didn't know, but the tests codes are duplicated by the lab. Since the codes are the same, insurance won't pay for both (now I get to pay). I have tried calling the office but since it is billed by the lab, they can't do anything. I will be finding a different doctor this year, and a different office.

DO NOT GO TO THIS OB!!! She is not concerned about your problems. She does not care what you want or know about yourself from previous pregnancies. I am going in and out of the ER for hydration and asked to finally be admitted to hospital as I was vomiting 10-20 per day. She showed up at the hospital early the next morning to inform me that my ketones were fine and that there was no reason for me to be in the hospital. I had barely held down any food or water for several days.

Dr Janice Mitchell was rude and doesn't listen to what you need. The couple of times I saw her she was always by the door like she was in a rush to leave the room. She kept pushing over the counter medications when I specially advised in he beginning I had a specific birth plan that does not include any types of meds. She had no sympathy for my feelings and what I or my family emotionally were going through. I will be filing a complaint with the medical board about the service and hardship I was put through. She is a young INEXPERIENCED Dr who seriously needs a lot of work on bed side manner. The FMOBGYN staff was just as bad, as I left messages trying to find a resolution, I waited 2 weeks and never receive one call back after I made a complaint against her and they just mailed a letter stating that Dr Janice Mitchell will no longer be my physician per disagreements. I have had only two previous OBGYN's (because we moved) who were so great at what they did and actually knew what they… were doing, and when I moved to Flower Mound and was placed with this Dr, my stress level and anxiety level were increased to an ultimate high. I now have a more experienced Dr whom Dr Janice Mitchell could learn a lot from. This was not just a bad experience, it was a horrific experience.
