Dr. Janice A Mudd, DO

At 15 she diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, at 16 she tested my levels again and told me I no longer had hypothyroidism which was "impossible unless I was using drugs" she berated me into confessing that I smoked marijuana, nicely told me SHE smoked marijuana at one point, then flipped and became angry with me and told me verbatim I was a "horrible person" and many other nasty, vile names, the appointment ended there with me, 16 years old running out of her office crying and collecting myself in the stairwell. The old hag shouldn't be practicing anymore. Over 10 years later and I still remember it vividly because it was such a traumatizing experience having a doctor verbally assault me like that. My parent was waiting in the car for me and I was so stunned/in shock that I never even mentioned it. Shame on Janice Mudd.

Dr. Mudd is extremely thorough. She had direct contact with other specialists she refers me to. He treats the whole patient and does the appropriate tests. Thanks to her vigilance, Dr. Mudd ordered a scan of my thyroid and cancer was detected at a very early stage. She is knowledge about drug interacts. She has been treating my type 2 diabetes for 5 years and I am very pleased with her care.

Just as previous patients have posted, I assure you that you must select a family physician carefully. Dr. Mudd is not the one for you unless you plan on remaining healthy. My brother was misdiagnosed by Dr. Mudd as having "croup." This was after the E.D.had already identified a suspicious mass in his liver and elevated liver enzymes. He had extreme upper/mid-back pain.She sent him home on a high-salt diet and steroids. He has no symptoms of croup. The treatment worsened his condition dramatically. Three days later, we took him by ambulance to the medical center. He was diagnosed with liver cancer and within 5 days, he was gone. My brother was destined to die, but the difference between croup and liver cancer symptoms is vast. He trusted this physician. But those days of untreated pain were anguishing to watch. And if she missed his obvious signs and symptoms, I am afraid she will miss the same serious issues in a child, a young mother, or even a grandfather. Please be careful when… you select the person who you entrust with your life.

Dr. Mudd is the BEST DOCTOR EVER! She will go the extra mile for her clients and I am not just speaking on behalf of myself.

I have no idea how this Dr. can remain in practice. Her bedside manor bottom line is awful. She wants you to hear her and not to be heard. Dare to go outside her circle of Dr.s and she will deny you service. I needed new prescriptions and she wouldn't do it unless I got advice from someone in her group of Dr.s as if they are the only one's that operate without a butcher table. There were times she seemed ok, but when you take a strong look at her behavior and requests to be seen by so many professionals you begin to wonder if she is trying to pad her pocket. It's shameful to think this way about a Dr. but it's the truth. Her staff is always changing. New faces all the time. Something is going on with this Dr. I don't know, I think it's time for her it's time to hang up her stethoscope.

I was new to the area and to the US and not familiar with the system here - my experience at Dr Mudds office was a little scary! She correctly diagnosed that I had high BP and recommended a specialist, but it was the whole way she went about it - I have a young daughter - who back when I arrived was only 13 months - none of the procedures they carried out were explained to me before hand, i was just whisked into a room and my daughter was taken away from me and given to the receptionist! I found this to make an anxious experience even more so! The staff were friendly enough it was the way they conducted themselves. I wouldnt go back now.

This doctor kept me going round and round to every doctor in the hospital system she could. She is very adept at making money for the hospital. She wanted me to see a specialist but became upset when I refused to see the specialist she suggested. The specialist she recommended was not in my insurance network and would have cost me hundreds out of pocket. It seems that she is out of touch with what patients have to deal with where insurance companies are concerned. She is also way too eager to send patients for every test she can think of and every doctor she can think of. She is negligent to follow up and she has a hard time remembering why she sent you to get a test or see a doctor. I would not recommend this doctor...

Dr. Mudd was my family's GP for a few years when I was younger. Back in 2003, my father developed a very bad chronic cough. He was also spitting up blood, among other symptoms. He went to Dr. Mudd and she would not see him, instead he was diagnosed with bronchitis by one of her interns. He was put on meds and he didn't get better. He went back to see her 2 or 3 times over a course of a few months when he wasn't getting better, but each time he was only seen by her intern. She never oversaw the intern's diagnosis during those months.Finally, after seeing her intern multiple times and seeing no improvement, my father finally got an appointment with Dr. Mudd. Upon seeing my father, she realized that he had Small Cell Lung Cancer, the most aggressive form of lung cancer.By the time he was diagnosed, there weren't many options left for him, and he had only months to live. The cancer had spread so rapidly that he could only do some chemotherapy. If he had been diagnosed earlier, there would… have been multiple options to help him, but because of Dr. Mudd's negligence, my father's time was cut short. I lost my father when I was 16 years old. He never even saw me graduate high school. I hope that by hearing my story, Dr. Mudd will not be able to do this to anyone else's loved one. I would not recommend anyone go to Dr. Mudd for any kind of diagnosis, I honestly don't even know how she is still allowed to practice. There are many other great GP's in the Houston area that actually take care of their patients... pick one of them!

Dr. Mudd cares very much about her patients. And if there is a medical problem that you may have of which she knows of another Doctor specializes in she glady refers you and goes the extra mile to reserve an appointment.

that is right. Dr. Mudd dropped me as a patient after 10 years without warning.At times I thought she was a little wacky but overall ok. until i get a letter in the mail that she has dropped me as a patient. Not even a phone call. I can't even get in touch to find out why. WOW!!!!
