Dr. Janice T Powell, MD

best doctor ever

Dr Powell has been my PCP for close to 40 years. She is an amazing woman, excellent Doctor. She does not leave any unanswered questions regarding medical concerns. I have the utmost confidence and trust in her abilities as a doctor and her caring, concerned nature. She better not retire!!! I'll be list.

I wish I could give zero stars on bedside manner and spends time with me categories. I called my pcp's office after hours because i experienced some serious side effects of a new medication prescribed to me by my psychiatrist and she was the doctor on call. Before I could even tell her what my symptoms were she interrupted with "well we didn't give you that medication and I don't know anything about that" I explained it was from my other doctor and she told me I should call them. After which I told her my psychiatrist doesn't have office hours right now or on the weekend and I just wanted to ask a question since it seemed serious to which she responded sarcastically "Oh, and your other doctor doesn't have a voicemail? you couldn't call and leave a message with her?" After which I told her, "fine I guess Ill just leave a message and hope she gets back to me in time." and hung up. That's right. I was scolded for calling my doctor's office for help after a bad reaction to medication… when I was just calling to get an opinion. Totally inappropriate, not to mention unethical. When a patient of yours calls to tell you they are having a bad reaction to medication you at least ask them what the side effect is before trying to push them off onto someone else. Needless to say I think I'll be switching primary care centers after this, if this is the kind of treatment a scared patient gets from the on call doctor.

Dr. Powell has been my PCP for like 25+ years. She has always addressed my issues, has always worked with me. She will be a hard act to follow when she retires.

Dr. Powell is professional, friendly, and caring. I have been going to her for probably close to 30 years. Although, I have not had any major health issues (knock wood!), I feel Dr. Powell keeps track of my health and asks good questions. Years ago, I experienced a tragic death in the family (brother at age 29) and she was tremendously supportive. That's what I call a doctor. She supports you above and beyond the physical needs. I live on the south shore and will keep making this commute to see her as long as I can! The office staff aren't too friendly but that doesn't bother me. I am more concerned about my doctor.

I've been seeing Dr. Powell for 30 years and think she's great! She can be a little at times, but she listens and spends a lot of time. She lets me know if I'm overly concerned about something. She's fairly conservative in her treatment (doesn't prescribe something that I think I might need, like antibiotics) which is good, yet will always see that I get the things I really need.

This physician hasone of the worst bedside-manners of any doctor I have ever met. It is a wonder that she actually chose to become a doctor. She is rude when speaking to patients and their families, not at all concerned about the overall health and well being of her patients and is very quick to write them off. In my experience, she is a complete disgrace to the profession.

Her bedside manner stinks and she has a God complex. She thinks everyone should do as she says or else! Patients can think for themselves and make informed decision about their care but she acts like patients cannot think for themselves.
