He completed medical school at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his postgraduate medical education at University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine with residency training in Psychiatry and a two-year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He maintians a voluntary faculty position as a Clinical Teaching Assistant with the University of Hawaii's Department of Psychiatry.
