Prior to undergoing the MILD procedure, I experienced bilateral sciatica that occurred only while standing. I did not have pain while sitting or lying down, and epidural injections provided significant, though temporary, relief. Following a recommendation that I now regret, I underwent the “MILD” procedure at Greenwich Hospital with Dr. Jared Rosenberg. During my consultation, I was advised that the procedure might not be effective; however, I do not recall any discussion regarding the potential for worsening symptoms to the severity I have since experienced. After the procedure, I developed new and progressively worsening symptoms, including burning pain in my feet, tingling in both legs, and cramping in my calves. My mobility has declined significantly, and I am now limited to walking only short distances due to leg weakness. At present, I experience persistent symptoms in all positions, including sitting and lying down, which has had a substantial impact on my daily functioning… and quality of life. I now live with pain and neurological symptoms 24/7, even while at rest. This procedure has had a severe negative impact on my quality of life. I am currently evaluating further treatment options, including possible lumbar fusion surgery. There is also a procedure called the TOPS motion-preserving alternative, which could potentially return me closer to my pre-procedure condition; however, it is not financially feasible for me. I encourage others to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the potential risks and benefits and to consider obtaining additional medical opinions before proceeding with this type of procedure.
