Dr. Jarrod Ross Mcgahan, MD

Dr Mcgahan completed a more thorough exam of my teenage son and quickly knew the diagnosis that the pcp PA have was incorrect. He had wonderful bedside manner as my son inside was really upset and he picked up in it and tried to ease our concerns. He out in the urgent referral to a specialist and even said he would read up on some possible causes and would share with us if anything provides a clear diagnosis.

I saw Dr McGahan for knee problems at the Sutter Urgent Care facility in Roseville. I didn’t realize they closed at 8:30 and by the time I had my X-ray done and Dr McGahan entered to examine me, it was well past closing, but he couldn’t have made me feel more welcome! He was attentive, and listened closely to everything I said, and he took his time! After an absolutely horrific experience in the Sutter ER, the week prior, his sensitivity and compassion was ‘just what the doctor ordered’...(pun intended)! And with a PCP who never listens & makes me feel like he just might actually push me out at any moment to get to the next ‘Patient Number 123’ if I ask him one more thing, I was amazed at the amount of time Dr McGahan took with me! (Even after hours)... My last visit with my PCP went like this... Me: “Doctor, I’m literally sleeping my life away and I can’t focus on anything! My family is suffering and I just can’t stand feeling exhausted all the time, no matter how many… hours I sleep!” The Doctor: “Okay, well your blood pressure was elevated today as well as the last time you came in, so I’m going to prescribe you medication to help with that. One of the side effects is drowsiness, so this should help you sleep better as well!” Are you kidding me??? I tell the man I’m sleeping 15-18 hours a day and he prescribes something that will “help” me sleep more?!? I just said thank you and left. What more was there to say at that point. I wish Dr McGahan had a private practice and he could be my PCP! It’s just so rare, especially these days, to find a doctor like him. If you hit the ‘Urgent Care Lottery’ like I did, and get lucky enough to see him, you’ll get to experience how a ‘real’ doctor treats a patient!!
