Dr. Jason Lee Blackham, MD

I went to see Dr. Blackham for severe, tight and tingling pain in my back leading to numbness in my arm and fingers. He felt my back, had me lift my arms a few times, and that was it. His treatment plan was to take Aleve, use IcyHot and get a massage. I had been doing that and the same pain and numbness continued so that's why I called a doctor. I was a bit surprised considering how much pain I expressed I was in and considering how long I had told him this was going on for that he had nothing else to check or any other questions to ask. He had the presumptuousness to tell me that I have, what he calls, "tech-neck". Basically assuming I use my phone too much. I felt, at that time, it would be pertinent to tell him I have an extremely physical job and work full-time as a hairstylist (since he didn't ask) and he recommended I ... raise my chair. Basically, I got the impression he doesn't really know what he is doing after his suggestions because ergonomically that would be the worst… position for my arms and back at work. Save your money and try and go to someone who cares.

I was uneasy with Dr. Blackham about 3 minutes into meeting him. I became more skeptical of him as the visit went on and at what he wanted me do before he would refer me to the surgeon I actually needed to see. Dr. Blackham wasted my physical therapy sessions and wouldn't give the referral I needed for the surgeon. I honestly felt it was arrogance on his part, and not wanting to admit his diagnosis and treatment plan was not the one I needed. Even my physical therapist couldn't understand why he was sending me to see her, knowing that therapy would only hurt and aggravate my problem area even more. Also, he was 2 hours late to my office visit. He rescheduled me to a day no one was in the office and never documented the procedure he did on my hip that day. The surgeon that did my operation needed to know what was done and what the results were to avoid repeating the same procedure. My advice is to run the other way if Dr. Blackham is referred to you. Choose option #2 . AVOID HIM AT ALL… COSTS!!!

I was a little taken back initially. He had not looked at my history accurately and kept stating things that were not correct. After I corrected him a few times he finally was a little more careful in analyzing my past history. However, during my visit he made two very rude remarks, leaving me with the impression that he was very arrogant. I will not see him again.

Dr. Blackham demonstrated excellent professionalism and knowledge in the area of sports medicine. His bedside manner put me at ease immediately and opened a clear line of communication allowing me to feel a partner in my health care.
