Dr. Jason Todd Heckman, MD

Dr Heckman performed my robotic Whipple surgery. I attribute his skill in my positive recovery after the surgery. All my questions and concerns were answered. My options and surgery were discussed in detail. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr Heckman and strongly recommend him.

He did hernia repair on me 2015, almost a year later I had pain on my right side and asked him about getting it checked out. His reply was basically it's nothing to worry about and didn't want to be bothered. Found out I had 2 more hernia's. Been in so much pain till I got a CT scan and they saw adhesions that are where the pain is, right near the hernia repair. He appears to be arrogant and doesn't want to be bothered after he's done surgery. But I'm noticing most Doctors in NY have this attitude. Whatever happened to decent Doctors who took pride in their work and had a bedside manner? All we seem to be are $$$.

Dr. Heckman talked with me about a surgery that could fix a condition I was suffering from for years. I already had a surgery that required me to be opened up and the thought of having to go through that again was very scary to me. There was also only 90% chance that it would work. How much better can you get than that? Dr. Heckman came to talk with me again every time (approximately every 2 months) I was hospitalized when Dr. Orris would ask him to. When I learned that the operation could be performed using robotics and my condition was only worsening, I decided to have the operation. Dr. Heckman did a fantastic job and I have not been hospitalized or experienced the same symptoms ever since. It has been 2 years. I appreciate how patient Dr. Heckman was with me and am very grateful for him being my surgeon. He is exceptional. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank-you Dr. Heckman.

preformed whipple procedure on a family member, after surgery i asked about the cancer on her liver. was told not to worry about it, was no big deal. less then 3 months later she has a few weeks to live because cancer took over her liver!

Dr Heckman does have a surgical talent but people skills not so good. He is a bit of a pre-Madonna, always late for appointments also. I made the mistake of trusting him with my life not a good choice on my part. Thank god I did not listen to him and consulted with an oncologist and I am writing this review the out come could have been different. I do take comfort in the fact that what goes around comes a ROUND....!!!!!

Dr Heckman said nothing he can do for my liver cancer. His last words were "call hospice." Nice guy. That was cruel. He is not a cancer doctor just a surgeon. Don't even know why my doctor recommended him. I have a tumor he said hey a liver transplant. He had us so upset we did not know what to do. He said 6-12 months. We will prove Dr Heckman wrong.
