Dr. Jason Alexander Ramirez, MD

I had a good feeling about Dr. Ramirez when he took me on as my primary care physician, and he showed genuine care for awhile. He told me that he spends most of his time in the hospital (rather than the clinic) and may not be available all the time. He also said that if I had a need to see him, he would try to meet me at the clinic after 2:30pm. Well, I did have an urgent need to talk to him and tried to reach him by going through the nurses at Family Care. When that didn't work (no response at all from Dr. Ramirez) I talked to the Director of Family Care. By now it was six days later and I needed to see my Dr. ( or any Dr.!)... I became agitated and rude to the staff at Family Care (a symptom of my condition at the time). I then went to the Patient Advocate at UMMC, but even that yielded no response from Dr. Ramirez. Finally after nine days, Dr. Ramirez called me. He showed little regard for my reason for calling, instead he berated me for exhibiting poor behavior. I think… Dr. Ramirez can be a terrific doctor ( and I told him that early in our relationship)_, but he has NO RIGHT to be a PCP if he cannot return a phone call when needed. NOTE: The Staff at UMMC Family Care consistently shows little regard for the patient and will not go an inch out of their way to do anything to help a patient in need (my experience over three years).

Dr. Ramirez is excellent. He has helped me through so much. My husband and son now see him as well. My son is 12 years old and has been seeing Dr. Ramirez for several years. He feels very comfortable with Dr. Ramirez as do I. He is so easy to talk to and very understanding. If you are looking for someone to listen and care, Dr. Ramirez is the doctor to see.
