Dr. Jason Peter Zamkoff, MD

As the parent of a hospitalized infant, I expected a physician who welcomed questions, explained clinical reasoning, and viewed parents as partners in their child's care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Dr. Zamkoff. Throughout our interactions, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. Asking for explanations or requesting clarification often left me feeling as though I was creating a problem instead of advocating for my daughter. When parents are frightened and trying to understand what is happening to their child, communication matters just as much as clinical knowledge. What was most disappointing was the loss of trust. By the end of our hospitalization, I no longer felt confident that my concerns were being heard or taken seriously. Regardless of differing medical opinions, every family deserves to feel respected, listened to, and included in discussions about their child's care. I recognize that medicine is complex and that physicians often… care for families during incredibly stressful moments. That is precisely why empathy, clear communication, and thoughtful documentation are so important. Unfortunately, those were not the qualities that defined my experience with Dr. Zamkoff. I hope future families have a better experience than ours.
