Dr. Javier Andre Nieves-Costas, MD

My overall experience here has been a total lack of concern for the patient, no return phone calls, no response to inquiries regarding test results. Two weeks after an MRI, no information. Went through patient portal and found I have four small and one large lesion on my liver, requiring a second MRI for verification for biopsy. More messages left-NO RESPONSE. I wouldn’t trust this man if he were the last doctor on the planet.

Aside from the constant chaos and lack of communication within this office, Dr. Nieves-Costas has given me conflicting accounts of my health and whether I’m a candidate for surgery. He referred me to a dr. with a months-long waiting list for appointments, which I couldn’t really abide and sought to get an opinion for someone I felt more comfortable that they’d actually listen to me. But the icing on e the cake was this weekend, when I received a reminder about my referral and paperwork about it; only the physician’s orders they mailed to me WERE ANOTHER PATIENT’S. This poor person’s last 4 SSN, insurance info, mailing address, and phone number were ALL mailed to me — and presumably, all of MY data sent to someone else. This is a HIPAA violation if there ever was one! AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS.

Due to health reasons that began in my late 30’s, I’ve probably had at least over 10 colonoscopies. I’m now 62. Dr. Javier A Nieves, was by far, the most outstanding physician in his field that I’ve ever had the good fortune of meeting. My consultation was supremely informative and he gave me unhurried time. I immediately felt at ease in his company and actually left his office feeling good! Fast forward to day of procedure. My prep the day-night prior, was uncomplicated and fast acting that, I found myself, (strangely enough), looking forward to my procedure. Dr. Nieves, is friendly and kind, an excellent communicator and I look forward to seeing him again in 3 yrs time.

Dr. Nieves-Costas is personable and professional. Wish he was my doctor for everything - not just gastroenterology related!

He was very thorough and cared about my symptoms. Explained everything in detail and I would absolutely recommend him! Im so happy I found a great gastro in Tampa!
