Dr. Jay Alan Dunfield, MD

I visited Dr. Dunfield with an ear problem and he treated it very well and answered quite a few questions I had thoroughly and patiently. The support staff was friendly and my wait from the time I arrived at the office to the time the doctor saw me was about 15 minutes. I will recommend to friends and family.

Dr Dunfield addressed my concerns and brought up a specific test I should do for a chronic, but relatively rare condition I have. I was impressed with his knowledge in many areas of medicine and health. I was especially happy for the fantastic follow up. Very sharp and very thorough doctor. We need more like him!!

Horrible office experience. I went to him, and he totally mis-diagnosed my issue. I was prescribed over-the-counter support that made my condition worse. Both he and his nurse were totally unprofessional. While slouching on the counter talking with me, his nurse asked me to repeat info I had just entered into the pre-registration portal...that she hadn't read. She wore no name tag, identifying who she was. She only told me she was Dr. Dunfield's nurse. She did not take my blood pressure, temp or weigh me in, the usual precursory office visit procedures. Both she and the registration person continually called me "Hon," which I did not like. Dr. Dunfield acted like I was simply one more person to check off his list for the day, and from my perspective acted like he simply wanted to quickly give me a diagnosis and move on to the next person. He simply had me open my mouth, eye-balled my throat and gave me a diagnosis. Don't waste your time going to this physician. Incidently, I went to a… good GI (gastrointestinal) physician, and found I have high-level food allergies.

I thought I would do a quick follow up to one of my past reviews. Dr. Dunfield misdiagnosed me in 2012. He said I had ACID REFLUX. I am now 6 1/2 years out from stage 4 throat cancer. Thank God for KU.He is the most arrogant and worthless Dr. I have ever seen.

The old standby treatment for my sinus condition gets tiresome antibiotics, steroids, surgery. Dr. Dunfield stays current on the latest research out of Mayo and other places and is willing to give them a try. In my case the alternatives did not work but I appreciate his willingness to try new and different treatments at my request.

He is not very patient sometimes and he is OK, but not very nice all the times.

Office staff were nice. After appt. sleep study ordered and done, went back to discuss results with Dr. Second study ordered and done. Cpap machine ordered. Medicare requires a follow up with Dr. In 90 days. At appt. Dr. Asked why I was there and I told him. He seemed surprised.I brought the CPAP machine with me to ask him a question and he replied "I don't know anything about those machines." I have since seen the pulmonologist that read my sleep study. He has prescribed a new and better machine. I do not feel he should prescribe a machine if he does not know anything about.i also left messages and they were never returned. I was an RN for 40+ years and have never seen an office operate like this one.

I have a chronic ear infection due to a former car accident. Dr Dunfield took ample amount of time listening to me. Then he went on to explain my ear situation & each step he wanted to take to allow the ear to heal properly. Even upon entry into the office, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist (I will learn her name when I go again). Then I was usher back to a patient room where kind nurse Kristi took my vitals. Throughout the whole apointment I felt honored as a person in the time given for me, friendliness of all the staff, listening ears & simply smiles.

Everything that happens in this office takes a week or more. At no time can you talk to anyone except the reception desk. You can leave a message with the nurse any time you want, but the chances of it being returned are minimal. Dr. makes sure that you know at the start of your visit that his lunch is what is the most important thing on his mind.

When I called to get an update from the office after my first appointment, the office workers had no recollection that I ever visited their practice.They had lost my records, but interestingly enough billed my insurance and sent me a bill. They said they had no memory of me, questioned me as if I'd made it up that I had had an appointment with the doctor, and never called back after they said they'd "look into it." TERRIBLE.
