Dr. Jay Baniaga Espejo, MD

I went for a physical, including bloodwork. I forgot to fast (nobody said I should, nor asked me whether or not I had). Having eaten breakfast, I got a triglycerides level of 632 (normal is below 150). Without asking me whether I had fasted, Dr. Espejo prescribed a fibrate drug to lower my triglycerides. Days later I instead fasted and got accurate results elsewhere. Triglycerides: 156.

rude and dismissive

He is not my regular doctor but he is also the first doctor that was honest and gave me realistic expectations of my condition and treatment options. He also spent a lot of time describing my condition and his thought process. He tells it like it is but in a way that shows he actually cares about you getting better.

Very unprofessional. He became extremely upset after I asked if he could prescribe treatment for head lice. I understand that this contagious and of course gross but he is a professional who inevitably will deal with far worse contagious infections/illnesses. Once I told him he was more concerned about how they might spread to him regardless of the fact that he barely made contact with me. Immediately, he looked disgusted with me. He berated me to the point where I felt ashamed. Overall, very unprofessional.
