Dr. Sprong has many years of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. In 1974, he was appointed chief resident at Magee Womens Hospital which gave him the opportunity to work with the staff providing infertility services. Following his residency, Dr. Sprong served in the Air Force from 1975-1977 at MacDill Air Force Base. In 1977, he moved to Northampton and joined Hampshire Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates. Dr. Sprong's primary interest is in general obstetrics and gynecology, with a special interest in infertility and assisted reproductive advances. His main interest has been and continues to be advocating for women's health in our community. Outside of the office, Dr. Sprong continues to be a passionate downhill skier, having taught the sport to his three children. He and his wife, Connie, are now passing down the family tradition to their six grandchildren. Dr. Sprong also enjoys gardening and, as a card carrying AARP member, is learning to play golf.

Until my last office visit with Dr. Sprong, I had been pleased with his care. Bur he made a comment in response to my concern over my changed body (after pregnancy). His remark left me feeling insulted and objectified. It also made me uncomfortable.

I have been going to Hampshire OBGYN for 35+ years. Dr Jay Sprong delivered both my babies and over the years has helped with numerous female issues. He has the best "bedside manner" ever!

Dr. Sprong is the ONLY Dr. in the practice I would trust with MY or my Unborn baby's /child's life. The rest of the practice has poor communication skills and will knowingly keep medical info. from the patient during and AFTER treatment, labor and delivery (breaking the oath they take). Find a different practice in my opinion since Dr. Sprong is no longer delivering! I would also NOT deliver at Cooley Dickenson Hospital for the SAME REASONS!!!!! Do your research...it's right there in black and white. It's happened on MORE THAN ONE OCCASION!

Very pleasant and courteous staff. Dr. Sprong was genuinely interested in my health and managed to add some humorous conversation to the visit. A true professional.
