Dr. Jay Takata, MD

This guy refused to see me because I smoke marijuana, apparently he does NOT have the KNOWLEDGE to diagnose if marijuana is involved.. so he will have to go back to school when it's legalized ... clown

The Doctor scheduled a HIDA Scan due to my Gallbladder problems. I wanted a second option on my Galbladder problems due to me having a Autoimmune Disease. Which can attack your organs. He got mad and Cancelled the Scan because I wanted to see my Doctor treating my Autoimmune Disease. The office never called me to tell me so I drove 2 hours for nothing. That is very shady and extremely unprofessional and unethical. I would run the other way before seeing this medical group.

This man has terrible bedside manner. He acts inconvenienced by any questions you may have. Does not check or intentionally prescribed medicines that have a strong counteraction, which resulted in excruciating pain and hospital stay because my organs were shutting down. If I had not been able to get to the hospital quickly, I would not be alive. He was asked directly if they were safe to take together. He said to take them both. Thinking that a doctor would surely know if it was safe to do, I followed his medical advice. BIG MISTAKE. If you value your life or your loved ones, you will seek out a different doctor.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease as a teenager. I was treated by a gastroenterologist in Tyler for several years. For two years I was having severe symptoms. I moved to Athens and began seeing Dr. Takata. He reviewed all my records and found a problem that had been ignored or dismissed for over a year. He treated me with antibiotics, Infliximab and now Humira. My symptoms have COMPLETELY RESOLVED! I feel like I have a new lease on life. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Takata and his expert care.

Thinks fiber is the cure for everything. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra distance to Tyler(Trinity Mother Frances Gastro). You'll get better advice.

My husband nearly died twice under dr takata care. Now under the care of a concerned and knowledgeable GI in Tyler. My husband has to have his esophagus re banded every 3 weeks for preventing more bleeds due to excessive damage done to his esophagus under dr takata care. Sad scary and stay away if you want to live

Had to file through our pharmacy a complaint for Non compliance as they are unable or unwilling to send a fax to get a prescription through. Over a week still waiting for Pre Authorization. Contacted our attorney. After 3 timed being admitted to the hospital twice in ICU he never ever scheduled an appointment for blood work or a follow up. His nurse Melinda will not follow through. The front desk had no clue what an E Fax was. Very poor and unprofessional office.

Rude. Told 2 family members he was not making enough money to answer any more questions about the mutilating surgery I had just been through. What a horrible man!

I hope he is a good doctor. Never saw him during my appointment. Only dealt with his PA. I guess the first time I will meet him will be the day I get my colonoscopy. You would think he would at least introduce himself when you come to his office for an exam.
