So thankful for Dr. Lea, after deciding to seek a second opinion regarding treatment for VIN-I am grateful to have found Dr. Lea-she immediately suggested treatment for my issues and ended a lengthy period of suffering from improper treatment. Plus, she has a wonderful personality! I am so happy with the care/service I have received from Dr. Lea and her staff!

I had a complete hysterectomy with Dr. Lea, done laparoscopically, and there was really little to no post-op pain (except when I laughed!) A real tribute to her surgical skills and I would send everyone to her.

I was dx with a PMS2 mutation/Lynch Syndrome & was referred to Dr. Lea. w/o warning and no pain medications and w/ no sexual trauma hx assessment I was subjected to the excruciating pain of an endometrial biopsy & in front of 4 people (1 being male w/o consent of him being there). I was re-traumatized. I have to get these at least every two years with a colonoscopy. MD Anderson (my new hospital) does these sedated! Dr. Lea didn't even give me tylenol. Plus she said I must have my ovaries/uterus out by 40. MD Anderson said that is not true for the PMS2 mutation. She was also telling me I must get a pap and pelvic ultrasound along with the CA 125 blood draw every 6 months because of my less than 8% risk of ovarian cancer even though she and I both know those screenings do nothing to reduce mortality rate of ovarian cancer. They are invasive and costly. MD Anderson asked the right questions and even without my traumatic past they don't recommend such frequent invasive screenings and… especially not such a massive surgery. Dr. Lea's office didn't even call me or post on my chart months later with the results of my pap or biopsy. When I picked up my records to transfer my care I saw the results as well as a suicide screening, depression screening, and sexual/emotional/physical abuse screening that was charted but never actually done. As a nurse, and someone with a traumatic history which was falsely charted... which then greatly affected my care and has now sought me to seek counseling this enrages me. I will never be back and I don't recommend anyone take the chance. Drive 3 hours if you can and go to MD Anderson, especially if you have Lynch Syndrome. Go see Dr. Lynch himself! Do yourself a favor and get the sedated endometrial biopsies/colonoscopies.

Dr. J. Lea is superbly qualified in her field. She is thorough, direct yet compassionate and caring, providing complete explanations of the situation, risks, potential outcomes and treatment. There is no dumb question with Dr. Lea - she patiently and thoroughly answers in a comprehensible way. I could not have been more grateful for nor in better hands that this amazing doctor. Look at her profile and you will see why she is at the top of her field.

Concerned provider who takes into account the patient's feelings and emotions. Was the only provider who considers calling me for results of pertinent tests. She is the ONLY provider who I want to see throughout my battle with cancer.

I can highly recommend Dr.Lea. She sat with me for one hour on my first visit last month and went thorough my chart and explained everything to me. She drew diagrams and really made certain that I understood everything that was going on. All my follow up results were put up on my chart, which I really liked as I can stay informed and read my results. My surgery went well and I feel very confident in her hands.

After visiting multiple gynecologic oncologists, I feel I have enough exposure to make a comparison. Dr. Lea was by far the most thorough and caring doctor I encountered. Not only did she take time during my initial consultation to explain my pathology report and next steps, but she was the ONLY doctor who ordered additional testing. She has been readily accessible through MyChart and via telephone too. In addition, she went above and beyond (including seeking outside expert opinions) to come up with a treatment plan for me. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a gynecologic oncologist, as she is the BEST!
