Dr. Jeanne M Allen, MD

I saw Dr. Jeanne Allen as a minor. My behavior was showing clear signs of abuse I was being subjected to, and as a professional in children’s mental health care, I am shocked that she missed these crucial signs. Instead, I was labeled with ODD and other diagnoses that every professional I have seen since have been confused on why she gave these. She also prescribed medication and told my parents it had “absolutely no side effects” SSRI medications have many side effects that someone may experience- it was like she couldn’t be bothered to educate or explain anything to her clients. When I gained weight on the medication, she began our next session by shouting out “So you gained X lbs!” with a smirk and lectured me about my diet, still not addressing that medication can cause increased appetite and weight gain, fully shaming a child for their weight. I left every appointment crying. Jeanne Allen’s practice kept me from seeking support out of fear of the same treatment.
