Dr. Jed Axelrod, MD

Dr. Axelrod treated my granddaughter for club foot, and her feet corrected beautifully. He was competent, confident, and kind to our little patient. He answered our many questions, and treated our family with respect. We are grateful to him.

We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon due to an x-ray showing two spinal fractures in my 16-year-old daughter's back. This doctor entered the room and before even examining her or asking any questions, immediately began to tell us that this was a simple muscle spasm, nothing more. When we told him that she had some tingling in her extremities (which the radiologist who read her x-ray said would be something to consider an urgent situation), he suggested she had sat on her limbs or something. A 45-second prodding of her back and he sent us on our way with a dismissive and condescending tone. ("I've seen my share of x condition, and this isn't it.") My daughter left this appointment scared and in tears. We've been patients at Children's Orthopedics for years and have never experienced anything like this doctor. We'll be getting a second opinion.

Took my daughter to see Dr. Axelrod for a 2nd opinion for a foot problem after we were told she needed surgery. He told us about some other options and she is doing well now. Glad there are surgeons like Dr. Axelrod that don't rush to cut.

I think Dr. Axelrod is an excellent doctor. He is caring and insured that my daughter felt comfortable. He responded well to all my concerns.

Took my daughter to see Dr. Axelrod for a scoliosis screening and diagnosis. She had a lumbar curve of 58 degrees! He rushed through the appointment and told us to come back in six months to see if it gets worse. Took her to another doctor for a second opinion. He scheduled her for surgery a month later. The curvature in her spine is so great that it will progressively get worse, about 1-3 degrees a year. Prolonging corrective surgery is in her least interest. She now has a straight spine and is doing very well! I am happy that axelrod did not want to be bothered with us because it lead me to find an awesome orthopedic surgeon.

Felt like we where usher through appointment, felt like we didn't get the whole story....

Dr. Axelrod is delightful and caring, has gone above and beyond with my son. He was thorough in answering all our questions. We couldn't be happier.

Horrible, condescending doctor!!!

Dr. Axelrod has treated my infant for a club foot. He has been excellent and caring throughout the entire time we've been seeing him. My son has made tremendous progress with his foot. These have been the most pleasant office visits I've ever had with a doctor.

My experience taking my son to Dr. Axelrod was just like a couple of other reviewers here. I wish I'd looked at his reviews BEFORE we went (on the recommendation of our pediatrician). He is very rude and condescending, does a horrible job of describing the problem, and made the proposed surgery sound not only scary, but also most likely unsuccessful. After consulting two other physicians for second opinions, we were surprised to find the surgery is really very minor and has a great percentage of success. In all my experience with doctors, I would say Dr. Axelrod was my very least favorite because not only was the exam miserable because of his rudeness and condescension, but his recommendations were so unhelpful that I had to seek a couple of other opinions any way, so the entire exam was a waste.
