Dr. Jefferson K Kilpatrick, MD

I regret choosing Dr. Kilpatrick for my rhinoplasty. My experience ultimately led to complications that required a costly revision surgery in Manhattan. I found the process both traumatizing and exhausting. Upon waking from surgery, I experienced an unusual locking in my jaw and tightening in my arms, which made recovery more painful than I had expected. The final result also did not resemble what I understood we had discussed during multiple consultations. When I raised concerns about the outcome, I felt that my experience was minimized and that my questions were not fully addressed or explained. I attended follow-up appointments, driving two hours each way every couple of months for a full year, but after seeking additional opinions, I decided that revision surgery was the necessary next step. My revision recovery has been smooth, and I finally feel like myself again. It was a long year, and I feel fortunate to have had the resources to get through it. For anyone considering… rhinoplasty, I recommend choosing a surgeon who specializes in the procedure and provides a substantial gallery of before-and-after results. I noticed that Dr. Kilpatrick’s publicly available rhinoplasty examples (which I have only found on his Instagram page) are limited to one. My experience was costly and deeply draining, and I’m still recovering from it.

I would highly recommend Dr. Kilpatrick and his staff if you’re considering facial plastic surgery. I had considered a rhinoplasty for years, but it only took one consultation for me to put my trust in Dr. Kilpatrick. He listened patiently to my concerns and explained the process. He showed professionalism and excitement day of surgery and sincere concern when he called me the night of surgery. He and his staff were available to answer any questions that arose with compassion and precision. There was very little discomfort and no surprises to post op care because his staff are very good at explaining the process. I couldn’t be happier with the results and I know that if I called with a concern at anytime that Dr. Kilpatrick and his staff would respond with the same amount of professionalism and care that I initially received!

My septorhinoplasty was done at Pinehurst Surgical on May 26, 2021 - about 1 year ago. At the consultation, Dr. Kilpatrick came off as condescending, unwilling to listen to me and refused to look at the imaging that I brought in since I had a significant septal deviation (which later caused him to extend my surgery time an additional hour and have another patient waiting for their time because he did not prepare for 4 inch nasal bone spur I had which was clearly shown in the imaging). During the appointment before the surgery, I asked two questions and raised his voice sternly at me saying that I shouldn’t be asking questions. He raised his voice to me twice but only when no one else was around. He refused to tell me his plan for my nose but I blindly trusted him. I was quite confused by his behavior so I asked his assistant "What is his behavior all about?" who stated that she understands what I am saying, that he can be that like and “Oh you know how men can be.” During pre-op, the… nurse Enola, who is kind, patient and great at her job, asked me if I understood what I would be doing today but I did not recognize the specific word she used since Dr. Kilpatrick hadn’t used that term with me before. Dr. Kilpatrick was called in to confirm what it meant but he refused three times to tell me saying that I knew what it was when I had never heard that term used before. When I told him I really have not heard that term he reluctantly told me. He would've saved a ton of time by just being professional and confirming what it meant. Before leaving he proceeded to tell me “You should just let surgeons do what surgeons do.” After the surgery, he did not tell me or my support person that he had called in the pain medication so I only used over the counter medication as we waited to be told when and where the pain meds were called in. At the post op appointment, he scoffed that I said I was in pain. Then he forcibly put the speculum into my nostril and tugged on a stitch (albeit I suspect accidentally). When I winced in pain he raised his voice in an antagonizing way to say I should stop being sensitive and to just calm down. It was clear that he does not care about pain management at all. While at home, a stitch or two had popped along my nostril incision so I called the office. Dr. Kilpatrick was not in the office and I was told that he was not going to be called to assess the situation. The assistant had to ask the *surgical tech* what I should do and I was told it was fine. (A year later I now have a gape in that incision line where my nostril connects to my face). Note: Do not expect to have Dr. Kilpatrick’s support if he’s not in the office if you need help after surgery. When I got my nose cast removed, Dr. Kilpatrick was rude and unfriendly with me. At my 6 month post op appointment, my results were nothing like I had asked (dorsal bump removed, nostril symmetry, fix crooked nose). In fact, all three were so much more noticeable that acquaintances made comments now about how I have one large nostril almost double the size as the other. It’s like he brought one nostril in smaller and left the other the same size. But in the post op appointment he acted like everything looked fantastic and was impressed with himself. He also told me in response to the nostril asymmetry that I should just “not look up then.” I would not recommend Dr. Kilpatrick for cosmetic surgery or generally as a person that should be working with people. He needs to go through many more hours of continued education to have professional rhinoplasty results that he's trying to achieve. Additionally, he’s obviously got a complex that he needs to sort through before working with patients again. To those reading this please save yourself the time and energy by going to a professional plastic surgeon.

Referred to Dr. Kilpatrick by a ENT surgeon who thought that my nose needed more correction than he could provide. I had a broken nose, deviated septum and collapsed nasal valve. Dr. Kilpatrick thoroughly explained the surgery I needed. He was kind, courteous and had a genuine concern to improve my ability to breathe through my nose. I am now three and a half weeks post surgery. Pain and swelling was minimal with no bruising. I can breathe better than ever and my nose is straight. I was extremely pleased with my entire experience.

Only interested in plastic surgery where money can be made. Not the doctor to go to if you have an ENT disease. Makes snap diagnosis to get you out so the next botox patient can come in.

I went in for a simple cosmetic mole removal procedure. I expressed concern and dissatisfaction with the results, but had to wait more than a month to get another consult. At that point, I was told it would be another 3 months before I could get another appointment to have the area repaired, but their costs were too exorbitant for myself and for my insurance.

My visit was great. Love my results! You guys are the best!
